LOL @John Campbell I can imagine the looks you were getting and why they would be like "wth?!" lol. But yeah I've been on planes um 14 times within the past 14 years and that's not counting the connecting flights and such. So not frequent flyer but also not new to it either. Only new thing is having a pet along. I'm still contemplating the emergency kit thing because of the small bottles - I try to keep away from liquid anything while going through their process.

I did contact Kim about the walking jacket/harness thing. I emailed her walking jacket and then she said yes to that but then asked if it could be a harness instead as that would be cooler for them and not so hot and also less chance of them squirming out of it. So she's going to get them harnesses and leashes and I'll just pay her back for those when I pick up the kittens. Otherwise she's going to get them used to them and I thought that was particularly nice of her. :)

@Brigitte Cowell I'm actually seriously considering that sleepy pod thing you posted. I looked it up and it looks really neat and it would be good for car rides as well with how it straps with a seat belt. Comfort and safety. I kind of like it.

Thanks all for your suggestions. :)

I use the sleepypod air in the car rides to the vet also :)

I think it is easier for a panicky kitten to squirm out of a webbing harness than a walking jacket... and find plane rides cold especially down at floor level so would not be so concerned about the kitten being too warm in a walking jacket.

I am glad your breeder IS being cooperative, it would be a bad sign if the breeder was not willing to help you make this process as easy as possible on the kittens!

LOL, worked in the Airline Industry for many years.... 60+ flights last year. The looks were interesting... If I had not been in the employee only line it may not have been so pretty... From then on, I flew with it broken down....

For Walking Jackets, check out: "http://www.joykatz.net/walking_jackets.htm". They are very high quality, a lot of them in use here

Agreed... Any Breeder not willing to help is not worth getting a kitten from.... The breeder I used gives there customers a number that is answer 24X7 if there are any issues. Best of luck.... The longest wait now is between now and when you first put your eyes on the kitten live for the first time... No matter how many pictures you see of them, there is no substitute for seeing them in person.

I agree with Brigitte, walking jackets in general are more secure and difficult to get out of when put on correctly... and my feet are always cold on airplanes so if anything, I would worry about the kittens getting to cold, although since they will have each other to cuddle with that shouldn't be too much of an issue either.

When I meant by them getting to hot I meant by their surroundings when they are getting used to them like in a house or running around and such. With a harness if they're going to be used them I'm contemplating just keeping the harnesses on them, as long as it doesn't cause an issue with them.

Also I'm thinking of asking for a room when we go through security, less chance of something negative happening like them potentially getting away. From speaking to the representative at Delta as long as I ask at the beginning of the line for assistance then it is usually a painless process and doesn't take too long. Hopefully that is the case. It'll depend with how they are when I meet them. :)

I'm not sure if you're talking about leaving the harnesses on for the duration of the trip or the duration of their lives, but I am personally always hesitant to leave a harness/jacket/collar on any cat unsupervised - they could snag a nail in the webbing and get hung up, or even get their teeth caught under the neck strap trying to get it off... just my paranoia...

For their lives. But only supervised. As it is with Sabriel I go through spurts of having it on her for a time and then giving her a break from it. She usually doesn't like it but she didn't have one really in her 1st year so I think that's partially the issue.

This is me we're talking about, I'm practically the queen of paranoia Patti lol. I'd do everything in my power to keep all of my pets safe. :paw:
