It certainly won't hurt to get them checked out, and if it's URI it needs to be treated before they have full access to Sabriel.

I know, the closest that Sabriel has gotten to them was like a foot or two away from the kennel to hiss at them and growl. That was a few days ago. I haven't noticed any changes/symptoms with her.

A new thing happened tonight when I got home. Nakaia has this mouth issue. Almost like her jaw isn't aligned properly or something. When I first got in I went to the rest room first, and while I was in there it sounded almost like when they eat, a loud-ish noise that I don't know the best way to describe it. Anyway I come out and I see Nakaia open and close her mouth and the sound came out. Then she meowed at me and so did Trance and it went away for a bit. Then I saw her do it again, she then made a big yawn look and closed her mouth again and I haven't heard/seen it again. Very peculiar to say the least.. I wonder if she was trying to chew on the kennel when I was gone or something, that's the only thing I can think of. I had her out alone and I scruffed her to get a look in her mouth. Her mouth looks fine to me..

I'll have the vet take a look at that this Saturday as well. I can deal with little issues... little issues are fine... much better than big issues..

Oh and Nakaia has seemed to become the dominant one, she is always the first at the food bowl and growls at Trance if she goes near, so Trance waits and eats 2nd... Nakaia is also the bigger player, as in she always has to be first to a toy. But! Trance plays harder and longer, so not really sure how Nakaia beat her for dominance lol

So things with the kittens themselves have been going well. They still get along and they both love me and snuggle and purr a lot. They are also quite the talkers. They meow a lot and sometimes Sabriel meows from downstairs with them...

Today I decided I was going to try trimming the kittens claws, they have gotten quite long over the past month and have nicked me quite a bit on accident. I was a bit leery of this because trimming nails never went well with Neka or Sabriel. I decided the easiest way to do it was to get them in their harnesses, and in that sense it would also keep them used to their harnesses. The harness part went rather well, they still aren't fans of the leashes but eh, that's okay. The trimming their claws part went EXTREMELY easy! I love Kim for training them so well with that!!!

So then I thought I would try to get Sabriel upstairs and around the kittens normal area with them in the other cat room, I still haven't had Sabriel in their kennel, so I figured I'd let her sniff it today with them in the other room.

I brought Sabriel upstairs and there was a distinct change. No hissing, no growling, she seemed fine. I brought her near the kittens empty kennel and she bolted through the living room. Still no hissing or growling. Just wondering around, smelling things, and just playing at times with the wand toy I brought with me. While she was still in the living room I went and checked on the kittens. Trance had gotten out of her harness, likely because I made it loose for her. Her I brought out into the living room and put back in the kennel. She went to eating and drinking.

Sabriel seemed unfazed, still no hissing, no growling. She'd look over at her curious sometimes but then other times ignored her. I was thinking yes, yes, yes!!!

Then I pushed my luck. I got Sabriel in the cat room, where Nakaia still was in the harness. I had the end of the leash tied to the desk just for less running around. Sabriel I was able to get into her harness rather easily, in the hall way, and I grabbed Trances leash and put it on Sabriel's harness.

When Sabriel first saw Nakaia, she hissed once. Then she went to sniffing around and seemed fine. She ended up wrestling with the leash a bit. In that time I had Nakaia on my left laying down and Sabriel on my right laying down more or less about 2 feet apart. I was petting them both and all seemed good. Nakaia was purring up a storm, and while Sabriel wasn't purring she didn't seem annoyed her ears were forward.

I pushed my luck even more, I tried trimming Sabriel's claws, I got one paw down quite nice and easy. The second paw, I don't know what happened. But after the first one she went and she bit my arm. Not enough to bleed but enough to hurt a bit. I tried again after some soothing, when she seemed fine again, I tried again and that time she bit my hand enough to draw blood, just a tiny bit but yeah. After that I decided with Nakaia there, the harness, and Trance meowing like crazy in the living room it was just too much at the time and stopped with the trimming of her claws. She usually doesn't like the claw trimming either but she seemed so relaxed, and the first paw went so well!

I went back to petting both and that seemed fine. I tried playing with Sabriel with her toys while still petting Nakaia and at times it went well and other times not so much.

I'm thinking either with the harness/leash or Trance meowing in the living room, or jealousy. Sabriel ended up getting annoyed. At first she started pacing around the room. I tried calming her down but it wasn't working. She went back to growling some and hissing. I tried getting the leash to where I could take her out of the situation, she was having none of that and kept moving away.

Nakaia being smart kept hiding behind or next to me, it didn't help that she kept rubbing against me and purring at times lol. Sabriel in the end lunged for her, I saw the attack coming. I put my arm in the way and got a good swipe on it. Enough to draw blood again. Sabriel backed off a lot after that, it likely helped that after that I hid Nakaia with a pillow over her (to where it covered half her side where Sabriel would view her from, smart kitten didn't move after that).

Took some doing but I got Sabriel to finally let me pick her up and bring her back downstairs, I pet her the whole way to try to sooth her. I brought her over by the ferrets before I brought her to her room. She always loves to sniff them, I should really try to get a picture of Sabriel and Kodo more or less touching noses it's cute!

Anyway I got Sabriel calmed down with food and water, and got the harness off of her. Pet her some and I'm letting her cool down more now.

After that is when I finally got to go to the bathroom to use some soap and water on my bite mark and scratch marks. Can barely see the scratch mark that drew blood now. I got a pretty good scratch mark on my left hand that I don't remember getting but that one didn't draw blood. The bite mark on my right hand is right by my index finger knuckle. For a while it looked red and puffy, looks somewhat better now. Still kind of throbs though!

After washing my hands I went back for Nakaia. At this point she was laying on top of the pillow and seemed alert but relaxed. I brought her out to the living room on the harness and leash still. I wanted Trance to see that she was alright as Trance was still meowing up a storm! But also wanted to pet and play with her a bit to show I was sorry for the situation I put her in. Man she snuggled up to me really nice and was just pretty much all over me looking for snuggles. If I didn't know any better I'd have thought she was in heat lol. I did finally put her back in the kennel with Trance where she then got some food and water, and Trance finally stopped meowing. As I'm typing this their both laying on the cat bed looking more or less asleep lol.

So I pushed the boundary's, I learned a lesson, and next time I bring Sabriel upstairs, I'm waiting for her to go over to the cage and interact with them If/when they ever get along through the bars, that's when I'll try an introduction without bars again. This ended up being stressful on me, I don't even wanna know how stressful it was for Sabriel or Nakaia. :(

Actually it sounds like things went rather well overall. I think you just need to limit their time together, and if you see anyone starting to stress separate them immediately. Keeping them separated with the crate is probably a good idea. It's great that for the most part Sabriel did not react to the kittens at all. I hope you will continue to have them interact on a daily basis, the more time spent together, the sooner they will all get along.

You might need to get some antibiotics for your hand.

Oh I'll bring Sabriel upstairs more, particularly since she doesn't seem as stressed by it as she was in the beginning. I think the adjustment time helped when I thought Trance had a uri, and didn't bring Sabriel upstairs during that time.

Oh I forgot to inform, I ended up not bringing Nakaia and Trance to the vet. The mouth issue with Nakaia hasn't been happening. Trance also quit coughing or whatever, I think I was just being paranoid and it could have been from them being close to their litter. They both seem healthy as could be now.

Glad to hear their issues have cleared up on their own! I am like you - the least little thing and I'm at the vet, so when something clears up on its own it's worth celebrating over!!

I never did have to get antibiotics over Sabriels bite. Today however I may have to get antibiotics over Nakaia's! Trance and Nakaia still love a feather toy piece that came off the wand so I haven't tossed it. It's one of the easier ways of catching them when I need to. Trance is not overly possessive of toys I don't think I've ever heard her growl or hiss over them, which is ironic considering she was my hissing growly pants at the beginning. Nakaia is the one who is possessive of toys and I've seen her hiss or growl at Trance to keep her away from ones she's playing with. Well today I was playing with the loose feather toy thing with them and Nakaia got it, and because of how it is, I knew if she had it long term she'd likely try to eat it and then it would cause a blockage. So I knew I had to get it back from her. Well I eventually got it back but not without a little struggle. At first she put her paws on me nails out but not really digging in. Then when I held on to it she tugged back like tug of war with her mouth. When I finally got it, Nakaia had to get her last shot in and bit hard on my finger twice, I think because the toy wasn't too far away. Caused bleeding around my index finger knuckle and little red marks underneath. I washed it right afterwards but now as of now it still looks red and is throbbing. I certainly didn't have to fake my yell of pain, hopefully she doesn't do that again! For about 5 months old she sure does have some sharp teeth! Afterwards I fed her and Trance, as I didn't want her to have the taste of my blood in her mouth.

On another note twice this past week I had to wash their bedding again. I'm hoping I've figured out the litter issue now. I thought I had scooped it entirely the first time but it turns out near the left of the entrance there was a wet spot that I'm assuming Trance didn't like. I really should take the top off when I scooping it out, would make things so much easier. Anyway I changed their litter entirely yesterday after the second time and they haven't had an issue since. Course I haven't put their bedding back with them, they're using a different bedding at this point. I'm wondering if even with the washing and natures miracle for cats, if maybe they can still smell the odor or something..
