Brandy, I have found Hydrogen Peroxide is great for kitty bites and scratches. Get the "hypo" into the bite or cut, let it bubble, rinse, repeat. I usually do it 3 or 4 times. Til it doesn't bubble any more. Never had one get infected.
As a matter of fact, I have a nice long red scratch on my left forearm from Kilifi. We were playing wand toy day before yesterday, and she was jumping for it as I flipped it around and she jumped and missed her intended landing zone and landed on my arm. Of course, she had to dig in so she could change directions to chase the toy. It bled for about 20 min. Had to "hypo" it and use a steptic stick to stop the blood. But today it is only red. No swelling or is it even tender.

Cat mouths have more bacteria in them than any other animal, but it is usually the pasteurella bacteria that causes infection in humans, which is usually easily treated with a penicillin based antibiotic (I use Augmentin) if one is needed.

If you are only using Nature's Miracle I suspect the bedding may be retaining some of the urine - how many times have you washed it? You might consider using Unique Distributors or Anti-Icky-Poo instead - you can purchase either online. Also, realize that kittens/cats like to potty on things that are soft and pliable, so bedding (or clothes left on the floor, or the laundry basket, or the unmade bed) sometimes look like a good alternative to the litterbox.

Freaking out a bit...

I know Trance licked up some of the cat litter, I don't know if she licked it up by the litter box or in the litter box or what but she did not lick that much off of her fur! I know because I heard her throw up, and when I went over to check on her, it was all mushy litter. When I went to get something to clean it up with, she was trying to clean up the evidence by re-eating it! I got the rest of it...

She thankfully didn't go to licking up more litter! I don't ~think~ Nakaia has been doing it. Trance seems fine, doesn't seem to be obstructing her airway or anything and no coughing now...

God I hope/pray this is a 1 time thing, I do not want her eating litter!

I have Worlds Best - and according to the bag it's fine to be ingested but still, I don't want her eating it!

Going back to check on the munchkins.

This is why I start my kittens out now using yesterday's news...you may want to add sine baking soda to the litter...she will not eat it...she will taste it and never taste it again :)

I've never used World's Best so don't know how safe it is, but I agree with Paige - adding a little baking soda should deter her from ever trying the taste test again...

Patti according to World's Best website and what everyone says it's completely save. It's made of a type of corn, so it's safe for kittens and adult cats. Heck even humans can eat it (toddlers lol, thankfully I don't have kids yet). So I figured out with the kittens that they have a pattern. Every week and a half enough is enough. Even when I scope and get everything they want the litter changed entirely. Otherwise they will pee on their bedding. Last night they had pee'd on the one bedding that they'd pee'd on like 5 times or whatever it was. I gave up on that, I refused to wash it again. So I trashed that in my garbage outside, it was only like 10 bucks or something.

I scoped their litter like heck last night because I didn't have litter on hand (I was hoping it could last until Saturday (which it's Saturday morning now but yeah). So then I put their smaller blue pet bed in with them. This morning I realized right before I had to be to work they had gone on that as well. I literally didn't have time to do anything, I literally had to leave for work or be late (which I ended up being late anyway because of a freaking train!). Anyway so after work tonight I stopped at the store and got some cat litter knowing I'd likely have a mess to come home to tonight. I was right, by the time I got home they had also poo'd on the blue pet bed, thankfully they didn't mash it in!

So at first I spent time cleaning that up, and disinfecting what I could with wipes. I did end up throwing the blue pet bed in the wash, hopefully that'll get clean enough to where it won't cause an issue. I used a wet towel that I drained the excess water out of on the cats fur (mostly to see if they had urine on them), they didn't feel wet or anything and nothing came off onto the towel so hopefully they're clean. I thought of giving them a bath but I don't know how they are with water sports yet and didn't want to test it tonight, particularly since I need to trim their claws again.

Two nights ago while playing with a toy Trance got me with one claw on the top of my hand, it literally caught in my skin and snagged, much like her claw was a hook and the skin of my hand was the fish. It kind of hurt but not a ton. However now I have a mark on my hand that's swollen and pus is coming out of it at times and I think I need to go to the doctor in the morning for it, this past week just flew by I don't know where the time is going...

So anyway I changed their litter box and Paige I added baking soda now, I wanted to test it the next time I changed their litter box fully. So far I've just seen Nakaia go in there and jump right back out. So hopefully it doesn't deter them from using the box. I mixed it in really good with the litter (I used a whole box of baking soda, I didn't know how much to add).

So right now I'm tired and I haven't been feeling well lately because of some medication I've been on, I'm waiting for their bedding to be done so I can put it in the dryer. Then I just want to go to sleep right now. It's almost 2am and doing all the stuff mentioned above took like an hour and a half. Along with doing a few other things in between and washing my hands a ton.

-------------------------------

Hope everyone has a good weekend, mines going to fly by fast I already know lol.

Getting an infection from a claw tear is pretty unusual but if pus is coming out of it you should definitely get it looked at.

You may want to try changing the litter weekly and see if you can avoid these accidents. Providing them with more than one litterbox (if you don't already) may also help.

Too much baking soda  you just need to sprinkle a layer on top of the litter and then mix it up...

Brandy, soak in Hot Epsom salts for about 20 min, then wash off and try to express the pus. Then Hydrogyn peroxide. And Neosporen and a band aid.

@admin it won't make them sick though will it? I mean I got it so that it doesn't show white anymore and it was with the whole bag of cat litter so 8lbs of litter vs 1 box of baking soda... and baking soda is a natural cleaner.. they are using the box... I did notice when Trance was cleaning her paws though that she was licking her tongue a lot like she absolutely hated the taste... which is fine by me considering I don't want her eating the litter anymore!
