They can look very similar. Silver will have pure white hair at the roots. BST will have cream or off white.

If he is silver, the roots of all his hairs will be white - including the hairs in his black spots. If the roots are any other color - beige, tan, brown, gray, or black - he is a brown (black) spotted tabby (BST). Did your breeder tell you that he is silver?

No she did not. She told me he was BST. I did not realized that Silver Spotted was more for genetics. For me, it was just a color description. Lol
