I made a promise to their owner Angela that I would do my very best to keep them as those were her wishes. Each day that goes by brings me closer to them, and I can see a frightened innocent little boy behind that snarling, yet inquisitive face of Jakari. He is confused, but he is calming down.
It will take time Tom, you are doing a great job with them. I know Angela would be so happy. I honestly believe that she let go only when she knew her fur kids were okay.

Kristine, she cried every night on the phone with me because she missed them so bad, and I started putting the phone on speakerphone so they could hear her talking to them. Apples sometimes cries for her with a moaning sound maybe once or twice each night, but he has not done it for a couple of nights now. Apples was hiding under the bed until about 4 nights ago when he started coming out, and he will now take a treat from my hand. He also let me pet him and rub his back one night. Jakari will come to me and eat a treat out of my hand, but I have not yet tried to touch him.

Bless those sweet confused souls and bless you for taking them in. Just know that it will take time, lots of patience and love. Also know that you will never forget the day that you get your first headbutt, purr or the very first chirp that lets you know you have been accepted. It will be worth all the growls, hisses and mean looks;>) Just let everyone settle down, they will grieve for their mama....don't give up on them and know you will be accepted on their terms;>) Good luck and take baby steps...all will be fine;>)

My heart aches for them. I know this is a huge transition for them and they are so fortunate that you are there for them. Just keep going slowly as you have been doing.
