My husband told Triton "no" the other day when he grabbed his arm and started biting. After my hubby sat down in a chair, Triton flew across the room, grabbed both sides of his knee, and gave him another bite. Last night, Triton grabbed my ankle and started to bite it. I gave him a firm "NO", which he didn't listen to, so I scruffed him. Next thing I know, the little bugger flew up at me, leaving 4 little holes on my chest, and 3 scratches approx. 6" in length down my upper arm. I've never had a cat that hates being told what to do as much as this one!
Mrs. CC, I would try to nip that behavior in the bud ASAP...he is getting too big to bite like that. Have you tried yelling really loudly when he bites? The other thing to do is when he starts that behavior, leave the room and stop the play and other activity...do it enough times and he will learn that any time he behaves badly, there will be no one to interact with and no more play.
When Zuri was a kitten, she started jumping up and nipping me...part of the issue was she was hungry and the other part is she got my attention. I began feeding her more and also when she jumped up like that, I ignored her, did not speak to her and left the room...that behavior stopped in three days...but you must be persistent.
Thanks for the advice...I'll have to try that out next time he gets ornery with me.
