I bought fresh quail thinking it would be a great treat for my kitties. Nyah looked at it, looked at me, and asked if I was going to throw some seasoning on it and grill it for her. I tried to explain that in the wild, Servals don't hunt cows for food (she is still on her beef and salmon kick for raw and won't eat anything poultry). I told her they catch birds and eat them. I also let her know if she ever did get a hold of our parakeet as she keeps trying to do, this is what she would get! I told her some cats have to live outside and catch birds as their only source of food. Cats like birds! She said, "Guess it stinks to be them. I'll take my beef now."

*Kristin, I am fairly sure that is how the conversation went from her end. You can confirm!* image.jpg

Some are more finicky that others, and where some will love some things, others will hate it... You just found something she does not like...

LOL. Well Becki, Nyah knows birds are supposed to have feathers as evidenced by her quest to experience the delights of tender parakeet. Try buying some quail from rodent pro. She might eat it if it actually looks like a bird.

FWIW, two of mine won't eat rodents. I explained to them how embarrassing it is for me to admit that my cats won't eat mice but they don't care about my feelings at all.

Well my understanding is that cats will eat mice only when they are 2 minutes from starvation. Why? Because they taste like :poop: I am sure they love you W.W. and really DO care about your feelings. But food is food, and mice ain't food. Just like Velveeta ain't cheese.

I have a laundry list of things Princess Nyah's do not eat:
  • Chicken, unless it is freeze dried halo Scooby snacks
  • Turkey
  • Recently, rabbit and venison are out
  • Anything from a can
She will eat her primal beef and salmon raw, raw filet mignon (don't ask), ice cream, Rice Krispie treats, apples, water melon and mango. Oh, and she stole my 3 year old's quesadilla. And bugs. Go figure.
