Thanks, I will contact them tomorrow and find out for sure. The contract didn't say anything about rehoming the kitten or reselling it, it only mentioned "no refunds" but they were very nice people so I guess I will find out.

Well glad you checked the contract as so many don't think to read it... but do contact them to let them know. They may be able to work something out for you :)

If you can find this.... View attachment 8816
And not the yellow cover item named "Undercover Kitty" (which can NOT handle a savannah kitten), you could help the kitten wear herself out, provided you can afford some batteries. The boys destroyed the yellow cover version in no time at all. (Save the receipt.) The blue one is going strong almost 2 years now.

Pam Flachs raised some points worthy of consideration. This board has many breeders with considerable experience with these cats. I agree that a conversation with your breeder would be of great value. My breeder was able to relate tendencies within the paired breeding that was quite helpful. In fairness, we asked for a full brother to Rascal as he is amazing. His brother Mayhem is more of a handful, but as I said, maturing nicely.

Hey Rascaldad, can't seem to find this in the blue durable version. Only the yellow from undercover mouse one online. Where did you get it?

Believe it or not, I got it from Walmart about two years ago. They were starting to get suspicious as I would buy the yellow one and bring it back in a couple of days. This went on over a few months with about 5 of them. Then I saw the blue one and gave it a chance. Much more durable. Savannahs play real rough with these things! I couldn't find it on the online Walmart, as I searched when writing that post. Keep looking, it might still be somewhere.
On the other hand..... buy one of the yellow ones at Walmart, save the receipt, see if the savannah destroys it, then return it for full refund. I tell you, it is worth it just to see them savagely attack it!

Where you able to contact the breeder? Hopefully they are helping. Or any chance you have reconsidered? I know when we got our first Bengal that first week or so I said "what were we thinking" many times. But as time went on we got past that adjustment period I think a lot of people have when bringing home a new animal. Now we are up to two Bengals and a Savannah. lol Not sure which area of KS you are in, but we are on the west side of Missouri so might be able to help if needed.

I would be surprised if the breeder didn't want the kitten back, when researching breeders for my Nyah and then my new little Kovucula, that was very clear from the outset. These kitties mean a lot to their breeders, and we had to "interview" for both of them. I didn't mind one bit, it reinforced I was getting a quality kitten from a quality breeder. In fact, when I started looking for my second, I had a tough time because I had spoken to a few (most on this board) and would have loved to give my business to all of them. Before I get to off track, I really hope your breeder helps you guys out.

I will tell you these guys love as hard as they play, and are just incredible cats overall. Yes, the energy is something to behold, and a few things get broken along the way, but you discover a sense of humor you never knew you had when your platinum rimmed mid century modern shot glass from a perfect set of 6 goes flying into a million pieces. Somehow a perfectly timed head butt and tractor sounding purr right after makes you really believe they are saying sorry. BUT this is a 20 year commitment, and a decision to bring the kitten back to the breeder is a much better one than being very stressed out for a long time and the cat ending up in a shelter. No one is happy to see a new kitten not have a forever home, of course, and I know that includes you. But no one wants a kitty in a less than ideal situation either, so you will find support in whatever decision is the right one for the kitten.

Our boy Chongo was certainly out of control when we first got him. So much in fact that my heart fell to my stomach when he was more than I bargained for. Lots of effort went into how play with his furless parents was different than playing with his litter mates. Lots of time outs, lots of distraction techniques and plenty of play time. In fact I never even saw him sleep the first two weeks we had him.

At a year old I wouldn't say he is more reserved, but he does know the rules. No biting, no face pouncing and not allowed on the counters. Certainly there are some transgressions but very minor. On the other hand there are his set of rules as well, as we are not his masters, but his roommates. Closing cabinets more securely, processing the mail faster and generally being more mindful of what a creative mind can turn into a toy.

While I wouldn't think for a second of talking you out of your decision, establishing rules and guidelines are toughest those first few weeks.
