fibrosis of the liver

I cant say that I would be overly upset at a full-scale savandalism attack at this point!

In the meanwhile Jammu continues to provide care and comfort. Or maybe he just wants to be in a prime position for all the mini-meals I keep feeding her.

Linda. He knows she has something amiss. He is doing his best to heal her with love. I bet he is purring while she is lying on him. Jammu is such a good boy.

I just had to lock him up in another room to feed her - he apparently is concerned enough to want to "sample" all her food. And yes, he purrs thru all of this as well! He can scarf down in 10 seconds what it takes her 10 minutes to eat so I cant turn my back for a moment if I am trying to feed her. I love my boy dearly but sometimes he is such a beast!

LOL, sometimes savandalism is a good thing! I have one girl who is obsessed with stealing tissues and paper towels - i also have no idea what happens to them...

The results of the liver biopsy came in. Not good. Rafiki has fibrosis or scarring of the liver. The internal medicine vet has never seen this in a 2 year old cat. He said that it is common in dogs but very rare in cats. He did some research on both Savannahs and servals and cannot find any predisposition to this. He is reaching out to his contacts. He will also do a copper test to see if she is missing the enzyme or whatever to clear copper from the liver as that is treatable. He is baffled. The only symptom remains the lack of appetite. No fluids in the belly or anything else. We started her on Prednisone tonight and will follow up with our regular vet for liver values next week.
I am so sorry to hear this and Rafiki is in my prayers.

New symptom developed yesterday - twitching. When she gets agitated for any reason, she twitches. This affects her lower back, hind legs and ears. I really and truly do not want to bring her back to the vet. At this point, I feel that the stress is just too much for her.

As long as she does not appear to be in any pain, I would leave her alone!
