Bile acid test results are in.....Rafiki is NOT in LIVER FAILURE!

Urine tests were all good. The ear infection is microplasma or something like that. We will continue to treat with the antibiotics.

I feel like I can breathe for the first time in days!
So glad that it is all very treatable!! Just be careful because Mycoplasma is contagious to other cats. Keep an eye on nurse Jammu for symptoms. Sneezing, runny eyes, etc.

Great news! I know it was difficult getting her to the vet this time, but surely worth the peace of mind.

Vetoquinol Viralys also make a gel. I use this for my himy and now Leo who had black crud in his nose but wasn't sick. Both had an issue with the powder mixed into their food but enjoy the gel. It's got a maple syrup kind of smell to it. Leo's crud disappeared a few days after he started the gel. I got the best price on Chewys.com but their prices change so I compare when I buy. I paid $36 for the exact same tub of powder at the vets that sells for $18.48 at chewys.

Rafiki had been sniffing Jammu's bowl the last several days but his food is 2/3 chunks and 1/3 ground and my girl only likes ground. She wasn't overly interested in her breakfast this morning and plucked out all the duck hearts and duck fillet bits so I decided to try a bit of ground raw and she ate it! I had been wanting to try to get her back to raw for over a month now but could not do so as long as she was on the cyclosporine. Also, she is so darn picky that it is hard to get her to eat what is in the bowl much less trying to do a slow transition to something new. Fortunately the batch of ground raw that I have in the freezer is pretty low in fat (as Jammu is anything but low in fat) so while it will be more taxing on the liver than the chicken breast it is not too bad. Depending on how the feeding goes tonight, I may pick ups some chicken breasts and make some leaner raw to mix in as well.

Looks like Rafiki is back on raw. As of Saturday night, that is all we have been feeding her and she is happily munching away. And the return to raw was accompanied by a return to kitty crack. She had been snubbing that as well so I was down to freeze dried duck hearts and fillets as treats. It is great to be able to add freeze dried chicken breast back into the rotation. So happy!

The ears continue to give us some issues. We had used Bacitracin gel on the raw part of her ears. We only used it twice. Bad idea. I think that the gel itself might have been OK but applying it made her ears itch like crazy. She washed and scratched at them like crazy until the scabs were bleeding and the entire ear was red. I sent pictures to the vet and he said to stop applying Sunday night. Her left ear has a scab about a 1/4" in diameter but her right ear has one that is 1" x 1/4". I will continue to watch her closely and bring her back in if it gets worse. But they do not seem to be bothering her much and I don't see signs of infection. She is back to being goofy and playful.

Awww so sorry her ears are bothering her. Hopefully she will be a good girl and leave them alone to heal. But it is GREAT she back to her normal eating routine. Goofy and playful. may she remain that way. Love 2

Too funny....one of Rafiki's favorite spots is on top of the armoire in the den. I love messing with her and placing "things that do not belong" up there and watching her haul them down. I particularly loved watching her haul the large dog bed down! She grabbed it and pulled it down onto the neighboring bookshelf and then onto the guitar amp until she finally shoved it over the side and tried shoving it under the sofa. We placed several different mats and beds up there before finding one that met with her majesty's approval. We have a mat from Dr. Fosters and Smith up there. It is leopard shag on one side and cream velour on the other. I noticed that she had gotten some ick from the ear infection on the leopard shag and she was licking at it so I flipped it over yesterday figuring that this would suffice until I could launder it. I looked this morning and she had flipped it back over and placed it back where it belongs!

I think that whoever came up with the saying "creatures of habit" owned a cat! Too funny that she prefers the shag side and won't take velour for an answer!

I am so happy that she is feeling better!!
