This riddle was the essay question on the membership application for the computer club I belonged to back in 1991. We had a lot of fun and a little computer stuff as well. It is always a blast seeing the direction the answers take. :)

Carry on!

JasonE. Please don't get the wrong impression. Deborah, John Popp, Tort, myself, and a few others have a healthy friendly banter with postings, usually providing some comic relief. I enjoy their ribbing. Deborah has a special knack for eloquence and poetry. I usually work on sarcasm. JP and Tort have their own special brand of banter and life descriptors providing light hearted humor. Sometimes we hijack threads with these testy playful wars. You just saw a little of it. Once it hit several pages (it was downright hilarious). Enjoy it when it occurs. We do.
Deb, for clarification, I agreed the pickle had no seeds. Not on your art of deseeding.:p
Tort, great question. Brings out the twisted minds on this forum.

Thanks RD. It didn't take me long to figure out the forum had plenty of people with the same sense of humor I have.

Keep them coming people, more answers! Everyone gets an A on this exam. :p

Please elaborate on what is a half sour pickle, how it differs from the run of the mill dill pickle. I feel as though I've been deprived. I love pickles that are crisp and tangy. I remember eating those huge deli pickles that were sold out of barrels in Pittsburgh, back before men walked on the moon.

A half sour pickle is when someone takes a big bite of one and puts it back in the jar!!:p

Clearly you are deprived. I lived in Pittsburgh for a year and never once tasted anything remotely comparable to a NYC half sour pickle. Just a google search will give you a hint of the pickley-goodness you have been missing your whole life. Imagine sitting down at a pickle barrel and tasting one, then another, and being unable to stop....

I have yet to find a company that retails the appropriate pickles, either by phone or internet. There is this place http://www.mrpickleinc.com/ that wholesales them. But alas, they won't sell me, a mere human, a single pickle.

Aside from finding a restaurant that buys from the above website in your town, your only choice is to visit a deli in NYC.

I have, however, found a place that will overnight bagels--even with belly lox!, albeit with a hefty price tag (and thus only do it on special occasions): http://www.bageloasis.com/
