Freeze dried chicken hearts...

I went crazy over the weekend trying to find chicken hearts. I seem to recall that most grocery stores carried them but couldn't locate any. I went to my favorite butcher but he would have to special order it ... in 40 lb cases. I shudder to think how many little chicken hearts are in a 40 lb case! I finally found some at an Asian market. I was so excited to give them their special treat - and they both snubbed it! They absolutely LOVE the freeze dried ones but the fresh ones are not registering as food. Any suggestions?

I'd agree with Paige! :) Just be glad you didn't dish out the $$ for the 40lbs! You'd have to come up with some creative snacks and invite friends! :sick:

My two have different taste... Leto LOVES sardines and Stilgar just walks away from them as a treat!

How much duck heart can I give Rafiki? Even when she is in a major snubby mood, she loves her duck hearts. Do I have to worry about giving her too much? She was back to the internal medicine vet yesterday and I mentioned that she loves the freeze dried duck hearts and he seemed to think that it was OK giving her as much as she wants.

My guys are utterly addicted to the freeze-dried duck and chicken hearts. I let them have up to 6 a day, limiting the amount only to soften the effect on my bank account.

She has been eating at least 4 a day and that is approximately 125 calories. She certainly prefers this over the nutria-cal gel that I was supplementing her calories with last week!

To get my IBD boy to try new foods, and even eat the ones he gets tired of, I use sharp kitchen shears to shave the heart into little bits and mix it into the food.
