Not to mention what they can get into- it's just sensible to have someone pop in to check on your kitties if you are gone over 24-48 hours (at the most). We always have someone pop in. Imagine how much trouble they get in while we're HERE- ya know- that should clue all of us into the trouble they can make when we are gone. LOL.

IMHO, switching so quickly to a solely dry (and IMHO unhealthier) diet so quickly can cause all sorts of problems -- intestinal upset, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting. Strongly recommend that you prepare food in advance, freeze it in individual baggies, and have someone come in to thaw and feed him the food he's used to eating. Will probably save you some $$ on vet bills in the long run.

TIGER HUG SNOWBALL 3-09.jpg 3 CATS ON SOFA.jpg All 4 cats get along great the 2 other dsh black cats raised the savannah from 12weeks they sleep together and play together never fight even when left alone a few days, I would go stay at relatives for 3 days Amd watch them on my home surveillance system and they sleep all day and play at night then back to sleep.

Eeep! I wouldn't leave him alone, but that is just me! :)
We are going on vacation in August but a friend of mine is going to stop by before work to feed them breakfast & clean litter boxes & then stop by again after work for dinner, cleaning of the boxes again, and for some play time.

Hi Bigman,

I've never known the ladies here to be wrong =}. Please take their advice and make sure someone visits your furry friend at least once a day, twice would be preferable. Here are a couple of reasons why I would suggest. I have a couple of f2 boys and I know how quickly and the kind of trouble they can get into. You may think that two kitties may cause twice the trouble than one , but actually the opposite is true. They help keep each other entertained and keep them from getting lonely. Alone, for 5 days is along time. Your other cats probably can't keep up with your f2 for long. Thus is almost as if he was alone.

A short story, I moved to NJ from Seattle in 2000. That first year here in Jersey, my son was born. At the time all I had was a 55 gallon tank with a bunch of fresh water fish. I took my family back to Seattle so the family that I left in Seattle could meet my son and for Xmas to boot. Cool I thought, automatic fish feeder and all is good. Well the second day we were gone, there was a large snow storm. We ended up losing power for about 9 hrs. That was just enough time for the temp to drop enough that my heaters in tank couldn't catch up even after coming back on. I lost several hundred dollars in fish. I know there isn't likely to be a snow storm, while your gone, but extreme heat can cause brown outs etc. In my circumstance if someone had stopping by my house to feed the fish, they could have called me and I could have told them what to do and prolly would have not lost a fish. 5 days is along time. And so much can happen, unexpected things ... I wouldn't risk it... :)
