If there are outside sutures then yes the potential for them to pick at it exists the time it takes for the suture line to heal up... luckily my vet doesn't leave any external sutures. I find they heal so fast, within days rather than weeks.

My vet rarely tells me to "keep them quiet" or limit their exercise...because I will burst out laughing and he will join when he realizes who he said that to... he knows the Savannahs are high energy and there simply is no way to keep them completely calm and non-active. Either your vet doesn't understand or they are attempting to cover themselves in case your cat is crazy active and reopens her suture line somehow.

I feel it's a little of both. Hard to find vets that will take Savannah'. They are outside stitches, and she has licked them on occasion when she gets out of my reach or hides under the blanket so she can lick. But I immediately stop her. I don't know what to do. I hate putting on that STUPID CONE. Oh and when I mentioned to a tech when I picked kitty up that I was going to do the onezy like u made she said it doesn't let air in and stitches could get caught in the fabric! I just want the next 2 weeks to pass quickly!

Sorry, but if she is throwing a fit with the cone on I would still use the 'onesies' while you are sleeping and unable to supervise her directly. Your vet office sounds a bit over the top, sounds like 'defensive medicine' to me, rather than offering you realistic and constructive advice :(

Horrible night... She decided to challenge my patients. At 1:23 am I put the cone on...... It was off just as fast as I put it on. So one more place to adjust it smaller. ( last adjustment) TOO SMALL! Now I need to decide if her strutting away with tail high in the air or the fact that she is in between sizes gets me the most! Ha ha
Yes, will try the onesies but have a couple of ideas up my sleeve. I really Need to take the time to learn how to upload photos.
Thank you for your input and time your my connection to sanity. I want to thebest for my fur baby and I was starting to question my self.

How's today? Did you get any rest?
Great sleep from 10 pm to 1:23 am. Poor little girl must of had roomatosus. She could not settle down and was just not happy. Then I find out that the cone wouldn't stay on, I was on my last nerve. She is in between sizes..... One too big the other too small, go figure. Her incision looks great, she's eating, elimation is happening. Found a oneses to trytonight if needed. Thanks for asking.
