Welcome Becky! Now that you've introduced yourself, it's time for pics of your amazing lil feline friends! As a new SV owner, I'm still learning a ton, so it's great to have breeders like yourself and the others here that can help us newbies along the way. Such a great group of people here and very knowledgeable!

Welcome, Becky! I would recommend also joining TICA as a breed member :)
I am a TICA Member. The breeders are registered. I am going to register the litter in a few weeks through TICA. Even my House cat Bette is registered through TICA :)

Welcome, Becky! I would recommend also joining TICA as a breed member :)

OK I get what you meant.. sorry, can be a little slow at times. I will register the Cattery as Breeding through TICA. We are in construction on the cattery building. It should be done within the next 6 months . I will then have the vet check the cattery out and register it through TICA.

Our Breeders are in our house with is as the kittens. Sofia and Sirius have free rain like Bette. The kittens have their own room. We plan on keeping Sirius and Sofia in the house with us permanently. The following breeders will go into the cattery.

Myself and my manager thought that was the best route. We wanted to wait till then also because we wanted Illinois Fish and Wildlife to see the cattery (the Captain said he was interested in seeing the Savannahs and the cattery, Nice Guy.) Also, Illinois DNR and our City council members wanted to see it. I was going to wait for the cattery building, run and play area to be complete before I submitted the paperwork. Any input?

Um, I'm confused.

First- you can register your cattery with TICA- register your cattery name- without even having a cattery. That will secure your cattery name for your cats and their progeny.

Second- you can become a breed section member by paying the dues that are a part of being a breed section member through TICA- I think it's $35 now? Or $30... It is an annual fee and they are due on May 1st of each year- so if you pay now, you will need to renew by May 1st of 2013.

Third- why would F&W want to see your cattery unless you are planning on integrating a Serval into your cattery?

I think what Trish is suggesting is that you are a member of TICA which is different from the cats being registered with TICA or even having a cattery name registered (which Trish is right you don't need a physical cattery building for that...I don't have one)... when you join TICA as a member you get to choose a breed group, and should choose the Savannah (if you wish to belong to more than one breed section you pay an additional fee). Belonging to the Savannah breed section is important if you care about the breed... you need to be a member to be able to participate on our breed section yahoogroup which is where we discuss major changes to the breed standard for example. Also you would need to be a breed section member to receive a ballot to vote on those changes to breed standards, but also to elect our breed committee and breed chair. These are the people that represent our breed to TICA...so you might want to have a say on that.

Maybe the reason they are taking the cattery building and inspection seriously is the proposed changes to the APHIS regulations whereby to be a breeder you need to have a USDA license? It could well be necessary if one wants to breed soon :-(

My name is registered through TICA. Did that First thing.

I am registered as a R member through TICA. Will correct that soon.

I had to call multiple people and places to verify that Savannahs and Servals were Legal in Illinois, my county and township. Some city council members were nervous about Savnnahs and Servals. They thought I would have a Lion or something running around. It was all checked even with the township lawyer and all is legal.

Thanks for the overlook,
Becky

Right, LOL. The city council was the worst. When they had public meetings people wanted to know how "Becky" could walk her cats on a leash and dogs were running loose I have never heard a word since..
