If I did both I would need to move to Portland.
LOL. Absolutely, if you wanted to fit in and you would probably need a body piercing or two. One good thing about Portland -- the food. Lots and lots of exquisite street vendors and restaurants. I go up there 1-2 times a year and feel like I've been liberated from rural purgatory.

No body piercings for me, just spend way too much time at the airport. Don't want to be the guy who needs to go to a special room to reveal the hardware on his tackle.
Almost did the real deal tribal tattoo back in the 90s. 4 hour interview, followed by 4 hours of crude seashell and hammer tattooing. No choice of design, supposed to tell your life story. Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and many thanks to my wife for talking me out of it.
Definitely heard the food is great in Portland and fortunately often get to travel to Chicago which is also a great food town. Lots of customers who shoot food, so plenty of good times there. Also get some BBQ in Texas, Memphis, Kansas City and NC, but nothing is better than Carolina BBQ. I definitely love that stuff, and made some great ventures through Texas to find some shack in the middle of nowhere with a cooler full of beer and soda, some white bread and a big old smoker outside. Good times!

used to have a navel ring too till recently... Guess I'm getting too old for it. but it sounds like I wouldn't stand out in Portland!
Food and cats are my favorite things!!! It sounds like I really need to visit Oregon and sample the food there....
