Heartbroken and Incredibly Angry

I can only imagine how disappointing it was to receive a kitten that you did not pick out, and to find out that kitten went to someone else....:(

I'm glad A1 is trying to rectify the situation for you. I agree with Brigitte that this whole story bothers me....that the wrong kitten was shipped to you, knowing it was not the original one....maybe hoping you wouldn't notice and that you would fall in love anyway.....

On the other hand, I do tend to believe in fate and what is meant to be. Maybe the "wrong" kitten you received was meant to be yours after all....

I agree Pam, could be that kitten was meant to be with him. Still, I think the initial mistake was compounded greatly by the handling.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I would be very upset too. While glad they are trying to right the wrong done by the employee, sending a different kitten without talking with you first is so much worse in my opinion.

A few years ago I looked at a Ball Python breeders website and picked out a very nice Ball Python to purchase. Sent my money and got a date for shipping. Similar thing happened, my snake got sent to someone else. But the difference was this breeder chose the right thing to do, called me up and explained exactly what happened refunding my money and giving my choice of another snake. The decision was mine to make and to make before shipping so as to not only not inconvenience me (making sure I was home to receive) but also thinking about the animals welfare. Because of that I later purchased other snakes from him and would refer him to friends.

While getting your money back is great, now you are being put in a situation were you have to decide to keep this kitten you didn't choose or send it back, which in doing so creates unnecessary stress on this poor innocent animal. I don't envy you but do offer a big <HUG> and well wishes on getting it all worked out.

I'd say for some breeders, naming them makes them harder to let go... I much prefer it if the new owner gives a name as that tells me it is THEIR kitten not mine, LOL!

Yes, I remember breeders telling me I should not name my kittens anymore because I had such a terrible time letting them go, but...I just cannot name them kitten #1...sounds too impersonal to me, but that is JMO.

I am hoping this next litter will be a bit easier to let go...

Your video from your litter had me in tears! I can't foster anymore because I get too attached...I feel for you breeders

Hi there,
I am glad that Abby is so loving, and hopefully the other little kitty is doing well in your home at least for now. I love my boys from A1 very much, and I hope that your Abby makes you as happy as my boys make me. I know I would have been heartbroken if my D, Jarvis, or Mickey had not arrived. I know I was in love with them before they came home, and I can only imagine how you feel right now. That said, is it remotely possible that Ice's coat has changed?
We bought our snow SV from A1 last year. He looks VERY different today than he did at 8 weeks.

This is what he looked like when he was listed:

There have been huge changes in his coat and appearance over the last 10 months. He now has lots of grey, a fair amount of brown and black on him. I know it is really unlikely, but what does the kitten they shipped you look like?

Awww thanks Kristin! I was very attached to them - maybe that is why I still have Cinny and Ixas - LOL! I raised them myself for the first few days and struggled so hard to save them, it was just difficult when they went to their forever homes...I cried when each and every one left, but all my kitten buyers stay in touch, so I get to hear how they are doing.

Thanks Rascaldad! He is a total love.
I'll have Mike take a full body photo of him tonight, he has black feet, black paws, and a tarnished silver coat these days. We sure do love him :)

Nikki, he is getting more handsome all the time!
