There are many breeders who use non-permissible outcrosses...whether it be Siamese or Bengals, etc.

I don't understand why they had a Siamese kitten to give away in the first place.

It is entirely possible the kitten is a Savanah with a heavy dose of Siamese color-point instead of Oriental Shorthair. They are the same type of cat, only the Siamese has the color points and the Oriental Shorthair has other patterns and lacks the color-point gene. That's why the OS is a permitted outcross and the Siamese is not.

When I was on the phone with Martin after visiting a vet for a quick look at the cats I told him what the vet said and asked him what outcross was used. Unless I misheard him he said Siamese.

Also the cats were listed for sale as 'pet only' and that may be the reason for being pet only.

Now that I am a lot calmer, I do feel that things will work themselves out over the course of the next few days. I have asked Martin to try again to get Ice back and to me, though I have not heard a reply yet. Both of us were in a bad mood Saturday so maybe when cooler heads prevail we can work through any remaining issues and get back to focusing on enjoying our cats.

Nobody said anywhere in this thread that you need to name your kittens. Hot damn. It was said breeders should know their kittens enough to ensure the wrong kittens are not shipped. Call them whatever the heck you want or don't call them a darn thing, but know your kittens enough to ensure your homes receive the right cats.

Unfortunately I think you are asking for a lot to have someone else divest themselves from the emotional attachment they now have with a kitten. From the breeders standpoint, the best avenue for them in retrieval of a kitten is if it is a kitten that had a higher market value than what they were supposed to be in receipt of. Otherwise the anguish is just compounding and making the issue even tougher to find remedy for.

I don't think the kitten IS Siamese, just looks more like a solid colorpoint rather than seal lynx point (colorpoint with spots).... remember vets are not trained to know all the breeds and their breed standards hence their opinion on what breed a kitten or cat is, is no more valid than any other persons...unless they are a TICA cat judge!

I agree, it is likely that the home that received Ice is now bonded to that kitten and won't send it back.

It's probably even less likely than you sending back the two kittens you have there now!
