Remember that Savannahs are long, tall cats so weight can be deceptive. I usually consider 1.0lb or 0.5kg weight gain per month to be a standard gain, possibly a bit more for an F2. So 1 month old = 1lb, 2 month old = 2lbs, etc.

Oke thanks, i'm gonna weight him again soon. he was 4lbs at 2months and i guess when he is 3months he will be between 5 and 6.

Another question :

He is here a week tomorrow, i know they say to keep him separate from the other cats for 2 weeks.
But if he goes at night in the bench, covered with blankets, can i let the other cats in the room then ?
Only at night.

Would it be helpful for later or just stressful ?

Wait the full two weeks. Then start slow introductions. You need to be sure he isn't incubating a respiratory infection or something worse and the two of you still need more bonding time.

Another update :
(edit : i just realize i was talking about this in the topic 'i made a reservation for f2 kitten instead of this topic)

The meowing and jumping at the door at night has become less.
He still does it, but only for short times.
Tonight it was the first night i didn't put him in the crate and i woke up with him sleeping with me in bed in my lap.
But for me it looks like themba has altzheimer.
In the evening i look like his best friend and the next day he see me as a stranger and everyday i must work 1-2 hours gaining his trust.
He still hiss alot, but i try to look at his behavior like he wasn't hissing.
Then he looks like a very curious kitten, who likes to be close to me but still is a bit afraid.
While playing i can touch him for short moments and when tired i can pet him.
He get totaly freaked out if i touch his tummy.
I might have been petting him for an hour then i gently touch his tummy, he kicks my hand away with 4 paws and jumps backwards and go away.
So far i'm content with his behavior. because i don't expect much more from a savannah.
Only some headbutts will be nice and the one thing i still want to accomplish is that i can pick him up whenever i want.
Else i don't see how i can put him in his crate later on for time out.
Then i wonder, are there many people here with a savannah that doesn't can be held when he is active (only for a short moment)

Today he is 11 weeks old and 5.5lbs

My F3 boys do not want to be held at all.
Your other cat may be upset with the new arrival that YOU brought home. This will work out.
The tummy issue may just be a unique attribute to your kitten.
Patience, you will be ok in the long run.

So can you handle them without problem ?

Do you never need to put them in a time out zone ?
Or what about trips to the vet.

Niels, you are doing a great job with him...remember he was the kitten not well socialized, so he really needs to learn...

This is where socialization of a kitten is soo important...all of my kittens went to their new homes and into the arms of their new owners. I kept two kittens and they are now 8 months old...Cinny, I can pick up and she will sit still for a while, but all I really want to do is hug and kiss her, which she allows...Ixas is a bit different...I can pick him up, turn him upside down, do anything I want...but he does NOT like to be held for more than 10 sec...

Just keep doing what you are doing...I cannot hold my female F4 nor my F6 male...but I did not raise them...

Oke thanks paige.
Yes he wasn't good socialized to start with so i'm really happy with the progress.

If he turns out not being able to hold does this gives problems in daily life or not ?
I know it's early to tell, but just for the ease of mind.

Niels, give it time...even if you can't hold him for long, I'm sure you will be able to hold him to put in a carrier...just please be sure to continue to touch him and interact with him and in time, perhaps you will be able to hold him close to you (without picking him up) and then maybe one day when you least expect it, you will be able to hold him for a second or two ;)

Kittens and tummies are often a big no-no! They may even lure you in, but that's just to bunny kick you!

I think you are doing great and give him time :)
