Well... I tried offering a treat from my hand. She was still hesitant so I did not push. BUT she pawed my arm asking for one. A light gentle touch of her paw on my forearm. She got some.

Cary I just read the whole thread, it's good to see the progress you've made with her in a relatively short time span. I think very soon she'll be eating out of your hand. Then eventually she'll be introduced to your other kitty. It'll all work out. I like your posts they're a mood booster.

Thanks Brandy. I am working with her. ( and working a job and working with miss jealous Kilifi, and trying to keep up with a life....) The real reason for getting Azidi was so Kilifi would not be alone during the day while I am at work. NOT TO SAY I did not want another Savannah, but leaving a Savannah alone for 8 hours each day can lead to who knows what. AS WE ALL KNOW! Plus Azidi needed some special attention and convincing all people are not something to fear. Patti had me pegged as one who reaches out to the lonely and scared, and she is right.

I think Azidi is " knocking down the old gray walls. And being a part of it all" Was just in playing chase the birdie and when she would get close, she would stop playing and smell what ever part of me was closest. Then she would resume play. She is demonstrating a greatly increased trust. When I left the room, she went to where I was lying on the floor and smelled every inch.

Sounds like forward movement to me... Better things in life is worth waiting for, and she is certainly proving it.

Give her time ,we have a American short hair male that was living in the woods that borders our house , he is shiny black with yellow eyes but at the time very feral , he would come around the house and sit on the deck with our male Tonkinese but would run back into the woods at the sight of people ,he was skinny so we fed him and after a short time we would see him watching us from the woods to see if we left him something and we did, as time went on he got closer and after 5 or 6 months he let us pet him and he calmed down , Vet said he was about 1 1/2 years old at the time and that was at least 4 years ago ,we still have him and nobody would believe at one time he was a feral cat that was afraid of people and living in the woods.Well... I am patient. I am closely watching her responses. I can tell when I am pushing too hard. I will push but not beyond her comfort level. And Deborah, I do touch her .. quickly, but noticeably. When she runs way back under the bed, that is too much. When she just pulls back, then we are still ok. I do appreciate all the suggestions. But I think I am making acceptable progress. SO "If it ain't broke...don't fix it."
