Ok. I understand what both of you are saying.

Deborah, I do believe in animal communication. I just am not sure how to do it, So... I will try your suggestion about the mental images.

Patti, I have been trying to do a together thing every day. But since Azidi will not come out of her room, I suppose being in her room is better than not.

I will mix the two and try to be more positive. I won't get into it, but I have had a lot of disappointments in my life in the last 10 years, and have kind of given up. So maybe I just need to swallow my pride and get 'er done.

Thanks Ladies for the proverbial kick in the pants. :)

Perhaps you need to change your perspective - there is nothing to be disappointed about with these girls. They will either get along or they won't. They may become best buddies or they may keep their distance for the rest of their lives. It is who they are, and until you let them figure that out there is no going forward. But in any case, you should try to get beyond your own expectations (and fear of disappointment) so that they can get on with whatever relationship they are going to end up having... JMHO...

Cary, seriously, hugs to you for wanting the best for your fur babes. Your challenge is to not interfere with nature and let what will happen happen. Love you, really I do. You have a heart of gold. It's just that in this particular instance, it's preventing progress. And I know from painful experience learned during my days as a wildlife rehabber, that when you unintentionally or intentionally approach these situations from the perspective of homo sapiens and all of the accompanying demons or skeletons in the closet or past hurts, it hampers the natural order. Animals perceive the world differently than we do. You have to find a way to respect that and be comfortable with it. To do otherwise is a disservice to them. Love you, really I do.

Thank you both. I really appreciate your candor. And I think Deborah agrees with Patti. At least I sense that. ;)
I will give them another week of daily face time then let the chips fall where they may. Each day the growls subside sooner.
And thanks Patti dear and sweet Witchy one for being so patient and nice. :)

I just saw your post in the chat box about the peanut butter which triggered a thought - have you tried giving the girls treats while they're in the same room together? You can switch out playing with them, giving them treats, giving them loving... any activity that relaxes them and/or takes them off focus of each other while remaining in each others' presence.

OK. I am doing the imaging Deborah suggested, and I am doing the treats Patti suggested. Today, Kilifi, on her leash, was in Azidi's room for almost an hour, half of that unattended. She was tethered to the door knob and could not get to Azidi, but the two could see each other and "talk" to each other, and were within 5 feet of each other. It was quiet and calm. A few little quiet growls from Azidi, but they both ate their treats and were normal after I took Kilifi out. I see some acceptance from Azidi. and I am sure Kilifi just wants to play. But I do KNOW that if Azidi screams and runs from Kilifi, Kilifi will chase her and only make it worse. I will keep this up for the week and see where things are next week.
