Well, Today will be "First Contact" with Regulus. I am a little excited, and really hoping he will not run from me too much. I won't force him into anything, but I sure want to hold him. About 8 hours.

Andrea worked with Zidi today. When contact was first made, Zidi was real high energy. And quite “talkative”. She is very happy dad is not making her go out into the other room. She is happy dad is coming in more and spending more time in her room. And she seems “interested” in the new kid coming to live with us soon.

Her ears are still bothering her a bit, so I will use some more of the mite repellant.

Andrea said Zidi likes fish better than chicken and to give her some smaller fish ( sardines, smelt or the like) as the omega 3 fish oil would be good for the ears and her overall immune system. Plus she likes them. Smaller fish are less likely to have much mercury.

Andrea suggested I put a live Lavender plant in the room with Zidi to help calm her. Also if she eats it, it will not hurt her.

Zidi was closed in the brow chakra because of the ears. She opened up quickly and easily for Andrea.

Zidi is very excitable and easily over stimulated. ( something I knew) So I must maintain calm around her.

Zidi is happy with me and cares a lot for me and feels safe.

Looks like we are moving in the right direction.

It does sounds like she is moving in the right direction, but she may never want to come out of that room. Are you still taking Kilifi in there from time to time, or is that on hold until the new kid gets moved in?

2 things.

I took Kiki and put her in the cage in Zidi's room. Zidi did her thing and Kiki watched. No hissing or growling. NOT interacting, but NOT antagonizing either.

Zidi and I are getting closer. While I was lying on the bed playing with a wand toy, 3 times she came over and "touched noses" with me. She has not very often gotten her face close to my face. I think that is an improvement on her trust in me.

Cary, is there a reason you're not leaving Zidi's door open all the time that you're home to let both girls proceed at their own pace? Does Kiki still intimidate Zidi?

Yes Kiki will still chase Zidi, which results in Zidi being super defensive and ending up running which is an invitation to chase and fight to Kiki. Not really fight, but Zidi thinks it is. They are SLOWLY coming to a stale mate. When they can be close to each other without dissension, the the door can remain open. Hoping that Regulus will give Kiki some focus off Zidi.
Also, when the door to the room is open, even if Kiki is locked in my bedroom, Zidi refuses to even walk around in the room. She remains in the window or in the cat tree. Patti said that Zidi spent her whole life in one small room, by her own choice. So she probably finds the larger area of the house intimidating. I will work with her, and I think, in time, she will be ok with the whole house.
