Hello from Canada!

Yea it is terrible. Thank god he is healthy. I had him completely checked, blood work and all, and he wasnt happy with me, but I felt like I needed to do that. Everyone here has been patient with me, and Ive asked a lot of questions. This is not my first cat or first kitten, and I felt completely lost and just wanted to be sure that Im doing everything right as he seemed completely petrified of everything.

What anger???????????? Im not angry at home, he is in a loving home with people that adore him. I have no idea what you are talking about. Just because Im here and talking about a breeder not doing what they should have done has nothing to do with my kitten. This is why Im here so I have the resources to deal with a scared baby. And he is starting to come around and explore, and hes doing good.

Some kittens take longer to adjust than others, Sterling was at home no matter where he was, I would bring him to friends houses on his leash, but his brother hated change, same litter, same socialization, just different cats. Your boy is very lucky to have such a patient and understanding owner

My bengal was like that, he adapted right away, and adjusted to whatever changes there was around him. He passed away in january from lymphoma, and it completely broke my heart. We have a lot of love to give this little one. And he makes me smile everyday, and every teeny step forward makes me so happy. But your right, not all babies are the same. What makes the difference is the people that love them and care for them and are always there for them. In the end, they know who loves them and is always there for them!

For whatever it's worth, I think that things are progressing well. He will warm up, it just may take a bit longer. No biggie, just keep up what you are doing and enjoy this time with him as a silly kitten.

We got Jammu (male pixiebob) about 2 months before Rafiki. Jammu was traumatized on our flight home but it also created a bond as I spent the 3 hour flight doubled over with my hand on him (in a carrier under the seat) to keep him calm. Once we got him home, it was smooth sailing. He would come flying to the door the moment we approached. With Rafiki, we only had a 1 hour drive home so we thought that it would go easier. She did NOT want comforting on the way home and nicely pierced my finger to let me know! She was much more shy and required a lot of play to bring her out. And she was a well socialized kitten! By luring her out with toys (her motivator) she quickly warmed up and at 2 years old, she is my constant shadow. It just shows that every kitten is an individual and on their own timeframe.

It sounds like you are on the right track Kim! It's hard when you have a kitten who is shy, there can be a lot of work that goes into gaining trust, but when you do it's so worth it!


And update:

I got a phone call from the breeder tonight! I was caught by complete surprise, and didn't know what to say once I knew who it was. All of my well-formed questions vanished and all I could say was "Ummm", at first

They were really friendly and super informative, and they answered all my questions (that I could remember on the spot haha). A lot of the basic things they told me I was proud to already have learned from this site, and I was happy to hear that the breeder recommends the same things.

Next time I am for sure going to be better prepared, with a full list of any of the questions I have. And I have a better way of contacting them now, so yay!

Thanks, he is still keeping his distance but hes running all over the place, playing with his favorite toys, springs, rolling, chasing, running around with them in his mouth. Hes still nervous, but definitely doing better, one day at a time.
So when will you be able to get a kitten, do they have any new litters?

Anyone ever tried bitter apple. I have lots of plants in my house, no they are not poisonous, but my first cat, like to touch them, and make a mess, my bengal, never touched them, and this little monkey likes to touch and make a mess. Anyone tried the bitter apple? if not what do you all recommend? No hes not biting them or anything, just likes to make a mess lol and I prefer he stays out of the dirt!. THANKS
