Meet the cat before you make a decision, if you are going to consider it. If the cat is real squirrely, then you have to think about trying to socailize her. It can be a trying experience.
Good luck

I'll have to talk with my family tonight. I hope we bring her home, and get her socialized. She'd be an awesome agility cat, I can just tell. That's what I'm going to start training Cobain to be this summer when it warms up and I think it would be awesome to have two.

Tora...I too would love that poor girl get a good home. My heart breaks each time I hear a story like this. Please do not underestimate the time and energy that it may require to socialize her and then perhaps reach an outcome that is less than you would wish for. The fact that she is declawed is likely contributing to her issues. She knows she has lost a vital form of self-defense and her only recourse to protect herself is to bite when she feels threatened.

Yep. I've tamed down feral Bengals before who had been declawed because of idiots. I broke my thumb and forefinger because of the bite from one. Hopefully she won't be as bad, but I know they can be... little butt heads to put it lightly.

I agree you should try to find the original breeder's name, before you meet or commit...assuming the CL poster shows up with the kitty and you feel you and your family are up to the challenge this girl may entail.

If this is not a scam...it doesn't appear to be, but you never know....you need to realize you will have your hands full when bringing this girl into your home with the many other pets already in residence. Be prepared to quarantine her away from all of your other pets initially for at least a month or more....if you think there is a possibility you will bring her home, you need to have a plan in place for a room she can stay in by herself for a time.

I am questioning what the CL poster is specifying as "unsocialized". This might mean this pretty girl is not a lap cat and they were expecting her to be, or it could mean she cannot be handled at all...

Please keep us posted on the meeting. Glad you plan to meet in a public place...do NOT go alone, please!...bring at least one other person with you...preferably an adult male or two. Stay safe!

Please read up on Ziggy's posts on this forum. With the right person (Chris) and a LOT of work and patience, Ziggy was eventually socialized and is OK with the other 2 cats. The previous person who attempted to adopt Ziggy was simply not equipped to deal with a truly unsocialized Savannah and failed. She was actually terrified of the cat after a few weeks. I really hope that someone (hopefully you) is able to rescue this pretty girl and get her into a safe and secure environment.

Ziggy wasn't unsocialized in his original home though. The original owner could handle him easily, he was exuberant and trouble making stealing baby pacifiers etc but was very hissy with visitors and they had children coming for playdates and it was too inconvenient to shut him up each time.

Ziggy did react with aggression and defensiveness on rehoming though, and Chris has done a wonderful job of winning him over and integrating him with his other two cats.

here's the link. it looks to be the same cat in both photos as well.

Something seems so fishy about someone giving away a 7 month old F2 kitten without trying to sell it...especially using Craigslist. But hard to see an angle to scam money so it must be legit... still, $1300 for an F2 kitten? I guess if completely feral that might explain it...but if she IS feral, that's pretty old to start socializing a feral kitten. Not impossible but a BIG undertaking for the right person and home!

my thinking is, if this was an only adoption, in other words, no other animals, least non-habited furies, then yeah, would rescue/grab this animal in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT I would never risk my current fur family it's stability by adding what looks like a troublesome F2 lad.

Trust me, have a troublesome F3 boy, from a large breeder, that exhibits signs of mistreatment and abuse, just because his markings can't be seen in most human visual spectrums. He came with eating, biting and cringing disorders, as a kitten. 5 years later, of patient love and watchful attention, he has become quite a loving lad, but, even though he is only 19lbs, he can become quiet the handful, and yeah, .....

An F2 boy that has been mistreated, declawed, un-socialized, that's one MAJOR commitment. One is talking about possibly over a 20 year commitment with chances of never being socialized without the right loving touch.

It would be similar to adopting a adolescent child with active aggressive sociopathic tendencies, and one would have to have the patience and fortitude of ?????????????????????????????????? whatever deity you most reviver, to take on such a deserving soul.

Just so much to consider when finding a family member, and the effects it will have on the rest of the household.

If this was my one and only, yeah, would do whatever it takes to rescue this fine lad, but no, would not jeopardize my fur family harmony, trying to bring this F2 into the fold.
