Hello Savvy Lovers; from NorCal :)

No, I think I should ask them about that... It is a separate test than just a stool float test correct?

Yes, it is separate and needs to be done. i will bet that he what he has...you should get it done ASAP...take a look at the tritrich threads under savannah cat health.

I'm sorry the breeder is not being more responsive :(

I just called the vet and asked them about doing a PCR test. They are going to talk to the doctor about doing it to look for TriTrich. I have a feeling the breeder is being unresponsive because she knows what the problems are... If he has it, it must be pretty likely that a lot of her other kittens/cats have the same issues.

I just got back from the vet again. They found that the coccidia is gone from the fecal float test this morning. They gave him more of the Albon because it has an anti-inflammatory and should help his "leaking" still.
They sent his fecal sample out right after for a full diarrhea test (another $235 on top of the $42 float test). I should be hearing back about this test by Monday or Tuesday. I hope this test will find the real culprit and we can get started on making him truly feel better. I need to find something he will start eating more of until then. I have tried the plain yogurt which he normally loves and also the gravy mixed with his food from the packets of "Cats in the Kitchen" from Weruva. He didn't really eat a good amount of either of those this morning.

I agree a tritrich test would be helpful. The symptoms sound just like Keljin, he had coccidia, giardia, and tapeworms. After treating all three, the runny stinky stools with blood or mucus kept coming back time after time during each medication treatment!

The blood and the stinky stools are a big sign that points to tri trich in my mind. Keljin also had the leaky butt too. My vet was kind enough to allow me to treat Keljin without a positive test, as we had already spent hundreds just like you on treating all these other ailments. Better to cover all bases and try what you can to help your baby feel better!

I wish you luck Paul and Sorte too :( I hope he can get well soon without causing your pocket much more trouble!

I treated Keljin with metronodizole 3x and the same symptoms kept coming back, it wasn't until we treated him with ronidazole for tri-trich that he was finally cured of his leaky butt.

Sorte should be tested and treated for TriTrich...i would not waste anymore money on any other testing...

Yeah, the full diarrhea test includes TriTrich so hopefully that should find what is going on.

Bre- Once the actual vet heard from the tech about his persistent symptoms, she also recommended the full diarrhea test instead of just the TriTrich test which would have been about $110. It seems worth it to me to do the full test and find out if there is anything more adding to the problems also. I'm glad to hear that Keljin was able to be treated without the positive, that was nice of your vet. Glad to hear he is better too, I feel so bad for Sorte because I can tell he feels bad about everything that's happening too. I have been doing my best to keep him off of everything (counters, tables, hutch...etc) and he is pretty unhappy about that too. He gives me little "screw you" glares and meows every time I have to spray him with the squirt bottle, then goes and finds his monkey toy to take out his aggression. LOL! That part is kinda funny...

paul, what is concerning is that usually the TriTrich test is separate and has to be done with a fresh, wet sample...unless it is the new test.
