Help identifying breed?

You may have to wait until there IS a DNA test for Serval heritage...I don't believe there is one available at this time...

I've recently adopted a kitten that is extremely Savannah-esque as well from the Toronto Humane Society. There are a stupid amount of low-gen BYB savannah breeders in the GTA posting on craigslist/Kijiji so I think it's highly likely these kittens are ending up in shelters due to them. Twiggy was basically in the shelter long enough to be spayed before I adopted her.

I agree with Brigitte...your new girl could be a Savannah. She definitely has some features that suggest it, particularly (for me) her face and body.

When I saw her adoption picture on the Humane Society website my first thought was OMG SAVANNAH. At the very least though, she looks extremely exotic and is gorgeous. I almost didn't get her, as another family had her on hold - they brought her back after one one night saying she was "way too active" for them. Works for me! I ADORE energetic & athletic cats and I am well armed with cat toys (and also a ferret who is happy to entertain the baby-cat) so I can keep up with her crazy antics.

I think they exist, they're just expensive, and I'd likely have to go to an exotics specialist/zoologist/animal sciences lab @ the university to get it done. I may ask my vet if he can refer me when I take her in for her rabies shot. (only one she hasn't had yet.)

I'd be interested to hear if your vet knows a place that can do it. I talked with Dr Leslie Lyons not that long ago about this and she didn't see it being a focus for her lab anytime soon. She heads up the VGL at UC Davis which is a major cat genetics testing lab...
