Our kitties had about 200 square feet when we were not home (8 hours per day, total), and had 2400 square feet when we were home the other 16 hours. Behavior improved dramatically when we began giving them full run of the house 24/7. Did a couple of items end up banged up? Yes. But nothing was destroyed and no cat hurt itself.

I have a Mac too, and our boys were interested in the chord for about a week, and now leave it alone.

I admit I could be better with it but she's got about 800 square feet to run around in when I'm home. Trust me when I'm down there with her she is not bored.

From her perspective it's not about the amount of space. It's about not being with you when you're home. My boys would not be happy at all being locked upstairs while I'm downstairs even though my upstairs is big and has lots of cat toys and trees, and even though that's not one cat alone. They own me, they wanna be with me. (although sometimes I wonder if it's just to see if I have treats lol) That's also why if I go away for a few days they get all pissy, they don't get where I could go that was better than being with them lol

PS. all those mac cords can be had on ebay for much cheaper, almost nothing is irreplaceable these days.

Exactly what I was going to say, Nikki! I have more than one Mac and I remember the kittens going to the cords and biting on them for a hot second...then they were off to do something more interesting...never bit through any cords or even tried...

Kittens/cats need room to run and play...investigate and just burn up some of that energy...they are just so darned curious ;)

.. but I just wanna know what in the world is going on in that mind of hers.
Ok, now I understand the problem.
I have 3 SV's with a total 16 years of experience added together. I have NO clue what goes on in their head most of the time. It is far easier to accept that they do what they do, and it will not make ANY sense to a human. Thus you can retain a small bit of sanity. I am serious about this. You should have picked up by now that these "cats" are way different from what you may have had earlier in life. Go with the flow, you really don't have a choice.;)

I have a mac and all kinds of Apple products. Zeddie thinks the cords are amazing, but I just tell her 'no' and she leaves them alone.
She also just wants to be with me. When I'm not home, she waits for me by the door, or finds a place to sleep. When I come home, it doesn't matter if I play with her or not, she goes zooming around the house with her toys like a maniac. After she burns off her energy she will usually come and snuggle

Missing Neka, Loving Sabriel, Nakaia, & Trance
Okay so other than the pooh issue springing up every now and then. Her play behavior has been good. Today when she was playing with one of the toy mice that she has, I picked one up and sat down on the couch and she came over and more or less played tug or war with it. Well in that I had the mouse held just over my knee's and she would perch her front paws on my knee's and bite the mouse and pull. At times I wouldn't give it to her and other times I would. When she got it, she'd play with it and bring it back, shoving it at my feet (this mouse is a little longer than her head) and then waiting for me to do something with it. I was very happily surprised that when she did put her paws on my knee's that she had her claws out but each time she jumped up with her front paws she was careful not to scratch me. That's my girl. :in love:

If you're not ready for another cat, then for sure you're doing the right thing by not getting another cat!

But as a for instance, I had problems bonding with my Ragdoll. I spent well over a year trying to bond with Dante, knocked myself over backwards for him. Finally I decided to "give up" so to speak and got Duma. Dante LOOOOOVES Duma. And this morning, after 2 years, Dante snuggled with me for the first time. :drink:

HIP HIP HURRAY for you and Dante!!!! :)

Missing Neka, Loving Sabriel, Nakaia, & Trance
So tonight when I was laying down on the couch watching a movie, and I thought Sabriel was all tired out from da bird, she get's the toy mouse (the one that used to belong to neka) and starts playing with it some more. I more or less gave it to her so I'm not surprised to see her playing with. What I am absolutely ecstatic about is that she brought this stuffed mouse back to me like she did the catnip mouse. But with this one instead of laying on the couch next to me - she laid on my legs! She did this over and over again, at times I would throw the mouse, she'd play with it some and then bring it back in her mouth and jump on me. Granted I was laying sideways so it was a bit awkward to pet her sometimes but she let me do that too. She did bite at the blanket sometimes, but never at a body part. She did bite my hand through the blanket twice and both times I was like "no" in a strong voice and she stopped but she didn't jump down. Oh I hope this happens frequently, I would love to see her fall asleep on me sometime but I think I'll have to wait till she's out of her kitten age for that. Oh tonight was so nice! Oh and the times where these good things happen, I don't call her or encourage her to come to me, it's when I half ignore her (pay attention to her but the tv too) that she does all these darned cute things!
