How do You comfort your kitty?

My Kinsler got upset earlier because I was painting instead of paying attention to him.. So in order to make up for it I'm cuddling him like a teddy bear!! Not that this is different from any other night.. But when I can tell he wants cuddles right now and I put everything away and lay down and call him up it seems a little sweeter :) image.jpg

Trish is spot on. We tend to think in terms of what we would do for humans. Animals have a completely different response to stress. Most times, they want to be left alone at the time of an upset. After some hours or days, they may require extra attention, but they'll usually let you know. In these situations, we have to play by their rules so being intimately familiar with their behavior and watching how they handle it either alone or with other animals is very important in determining our response.

It all depends on the cat and what's upsetting it. If two cats are fighting I stay out of it and let them calm down. If one is sick I find that extra cuddles and attention is usually appreciated. There's really not much else that seems to upset them, unless I'm late with dinner and then the 'fix' is obvious...

Mantha that kitty looks so content aww. with my pets treats seem to be a quick fix unless their really mad... Ex. After clipping nails.. In that case they throw the snack at me and glare. So I just start doing some reiki and after a minute they seem to forgive me come over and enjoy the session. I know I'm forgiven when they begin grooming me. but you are all right a lot of times some space is necessary. If they make me made I turn thump my foot and turn so my back is facing them. And almost immediately they keep trying to see my face, like whats wrong mom. And I will continue until they give me a lick to show their sorry. Rabbit shaming I guess. they get me ready for my savannah daily lol

Lol!! Rabbit shaming...my rabbit used to do that to me haha. If I did something to make her mad (usually too many snuggles) she would glare at me, thump and turn her back hahahah

Honestly, my Savannahs rarely need comforting, though I do have one girl who often pretends she needs comfort and extra attention. She has the sad, upward-looking eye roll, slinking body gesture, and pitiful squeaky meow (sounds like "mom?") down to a real science, and I fall for it every time :) Usually it means she has done something bad and knows my heart will melt and I will scoop her up and love on her until all is right in her world....I didn't need that now broken dust-gathering fragile family heirloom anyway....

At this moment I am trying to comfort myself. I have had a couple cats in mind. Adults that I have been trying my hardest to decide which one i wanted. I want them all.. Unfortunately I can't have them all....at least not where I live lol. I found the most adorable little boy earlier. And I swear my heart skipped a beat. I doubted he was still available. And I recieved an email just a few hours ago. he's available! and better yet.. He is literally within a 20minute drive from my house. Something I had no idea was possible. Spiderwebs Savannah's in Ontario. The owner wants to sell but wishes she had room to keep him so she could breed him. He is a handsome little guy. 1 year old. f7c I felt sparks fly. I didn't know that would happen with an online photo or an adult. I offered to share him if I need to. once or twice a year I would be willing to let him go back to momma. At this point I would do anything for him. And I think she knows how I feel. I'm waiting for response from her. And I can't bare it.

I need a sign something to show me if I am meant to have him or go with one of the other sweet cats I have been thinking so hard about.
