I really need to buy a camera soon.

Yeti is darkening up and beggining to show spots!

As soon as I can get some good pics they will be posted here.
I also need a good camera! The lighting sucks at my place and my iPads camera sucks plus no flash. Hubby and I are dying to get some good pics. I had my eye on a great camera during Black Friday but was unable to get it at the discount price but it's looking like I'll be getting it anyways. It's funny how everybody's talking about getting new cameras for their cats. I would love to submit some cool pics for the calendar contest

Actually I do see a spot. It starts from one side of the picture and goes to the other.... LOL...

Do get a camera soon... Having a beautiful Savannah and not having a camera is somewhere between a sin and a crime... Even a small camera is cheap... Check out Walmart, office Depot or where ever... Photos are for memories that you cannot just go back in time and get.

They are cheap.... Check out... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vivitar-VX022-BLU/27448900 at walmart. 29 bucks, pick it up at the store... Depending on the state you live in, add a little tax. That is 10 MegaPixel, 3 years ago that would have been $1500 bucks.. The image in my AVATAR was a 10 Megapixel, and it don't look bad even being down scaled.

Maybe we should take up a collection... if we can get 19 more people we can get one for you.

Note the picture in my Avatar... That is my Late Sylvester. I did not have many pictures of him, but the few I have I charish.... I will certainly have many many more of my Elsa and you should of Yeti as well. Do yourself a favor!... No Joke!

Just a note to you on lighting... A flash is not always the answer, but it is the cheap answer... If you get a good camera (DSLR) with fast glass as they call it (F2.8) many times you can get a picture without a flash, thus no Red Eye. If a flash is an absolute requirement try to use a bounce flash, and they have filters and diffusers as well that will help with red eye and better surrounding your subject with light.

Just a note, I use a Nikon D200 (about 6 years old) with f2.8 28-70 zoom and it works great.... But it is expensive. Your product that you put out will be premium.

To help you with a camera choice, the images here are reduced to 5 Megapixel from 10 Megapixel Pictures due to server limitations, 10 MP and are suitable for framing up to 36" size (Poster).

I am including a picture of Jake and Sylvester for comparison.

This picture is with slow glass and with a flash. You will note some eye glare.

This picture is taken with fast glass (F2.8) and no flash. Note the eyes have no glare.

There is nothing like a picture to bring back millions of great memories... No picture, memory fades.

Very good examples! It is very true, pictures are a blessing. I know I wish I had more pictures of my precious rabbit. I took her very much for granted and I regret it now. I am careful not to make the same mistake with my "kids" now

Ok, here goes a test.

John Campbell generously donated an 8mpx camera so I could post more pics of Yuki and Yeti. These are test pics.
The one of Yuki and Yeti together was taken in the right light, at the right distance, at the rare right time with my iPhone camera. The others are me fumbling around in a very novice way with the camera John graciously sent.
2cats.JPG KitchenYeti.JPG LovelyYuki.JPG MyCamera.JPG StayIn.JPG String.JPG Troublemaker.JPG TestYuki.JPG

Yeti is fascinated with the camera. He came right up to it as soon as it powered on and stuck his face up to the lens. Then he tried eating the camera. Of course the strap did not escape his attention. Yuki decided it was time to pose and chose to be on top of a scratching post by the window.

Since John donated the camera, I will pay it forward by donating to a cause determined by my fellow forum members. Please post suggestions and then I'll ask Paige/admin to post a poll so votes can be cast. The winning cause will get $25 and I'll give that much again to SVCC as a way of saying thanks for providing such a great place for us to meet and share our love of Savannah cats.
