Sounds ridiculous to me. Basically if an F1 male was sold with them KNOWING he was fertile...he'd be a LOT more than $10,000! LOL! That's about the going rate for a pet F1 kitten nowadays, let alone a breeding one!

And an intact F2 female given away? Sounds suspicious to me for any reason. What does "breeder shocked" mean?

Sounds like a scammer to me...that is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard to date...the going rate for pet F1 kittens is $10k and up, so she is blowing smoke...

That being said...glad you have a kitten you love...I really doubt it is a savannah at this point, but it does not matter...you love the kitten and the kitten is a doll...

However, this should be a warning to anyone buying a "savannah" off Craig's List...if it sounds too good to be true, it is!!!!

Highly doubtful that any cat sold for $100 is a Savannah, certainly not a high percentage one as this owner claims. I think F1 moggy is more likely the sire ;)

I think you've got a great cat. He looks more Savannah than my Oni, and, in any case, he is a good looking boy.

Find a good vet to check his health and to determine what issues there were in "fixing" him and how to proceed.

I know sometimes the testicles don't descend, which can make the surgery much more invasive.

Best wishes with your new cat! He's lovely!

Just see if she will give you her vets number, they will have all the information you need. As for looks, you paid a hundred for a great buddy & it looks like you got it! When I look at your pics I see a whole lot of Bengal in the high n wide face. Which means a whole lot of fun tied up in fur. Enjoy your fuzzbutt & happy to see he is harness trained!

I paid 100 for him and another person offered 500 but she had already promised him to me. I was curious because the price was so low as well.

The first picture was taken just a few hours ago while the others were taken a few days ago.

I just text the previous owner and she said that he cannot be neutered. Apparently she tried back in march and he flatlined 4 times while he was under anesthesia. I'm glad I asked her or I wouldn't have known.I wonder if they used ketamine on him.

The story on him is that she is going through a divorce which was brought about abruptly and so the vet papers will be sent. Nothing other than a harness was given to me upon picking him up. He does walk pretty good on a leash with a few stubborn moments each walk. I asked about the parents when I picked him up and other than saying what the f#s were she said his father came up to just below her knee when standing on all fours.

First off, I am new to the Savannahs with a 6 month old F3, so I am not speaking with authority. I paid $2500 for Elsa, and think I got a great deal, but I got all the papers. The person that you got the cat from should have papers if they are legitimate, but as I said... Love Him, and give him a good live and he will give you the same in return.

It may be the type of anesthesia. My breeder highly recommends "Isoflurane gas form". Savannah's are more suceptable to anesthesia and you need to make sure that you have a vet that knows hybrids/Savannah's as they are quite different.

As for being from a replicable breeder or not at this point to me seems to be unimportant. The important thing is that you have a cat that loves you and you love him. He is a beautiful kitty and I wish you the best of luck with him.

And I agree with your vet, John...Isoflurane gas is much safer than many anesthetics...by being a gas, if there is an issue (reaction or overdose) the effects are easily reversed by taking the mask off. When you have injected a drug (like ketamine) you can't reverse the effects or stop them, all you can do is supportive care (sometimes continual CPR) until enough of the drug has been cleared from the system for the animal to recover.

I will say that I don't consider Savannahs different, my vet uses isoflurane on all pets. Savannahs can tend to have a very lean body type though and like other lean cat breeds, this can cause overdosing when injectable anesthetics are used, as dosage by weight is common and that assumes a certain % of bodyfat. I've heard Oriental Shorthair breeders caution about using ketamine for the very same reason.
