Look...I have personal experience with A1 Savannahs and spoke to the new owners and recently spoke to Martin about them as well.

The new owners do not have a clue as to what they are doing. They know NOTHING about breeding...they will tell you what you want to hear - that they are breeding the same cats, when most of the original cats went to A1 Savannahs Europe.

The truth of the matter is that they probably brokered your kitten from a breeder in Florida, but you will never know it - I know they are doing this for a fact...I would never post anything publicly that I did not know as first hand info. The papers are hung, so you still will never know the truth.

I have never said a word about A1 in the past - have always defended them because I had a great experience with them and my beautiful F4 Zuri is wonderful. However, Martin and Kathrin no longer own the "business" and it is a business, make no mistake about it...

Things do happen, but when they happen over and over, you need to step back and ask why...they use a vet who signs health certs whether the kitten is sick or not - first hand info.

You can get your deposit back if you really want to...

The kitten is certainly not to blame though and hopefully she will be everything you want and more...most of all, I hope she is healthy...

And posting pictures never has and never will be an issue on this forum.

HEY ALL ,I am not happy that A-zero sold their name and reputation for money , let us just wish groundpounder gets a good healthy kitten for the New Year, at one time we were all first time buyers.

I agree Carl! I am hoping for the best for groundpounder...and we are here whether he buys from A1 or anyone else...we will love the kitten right along with him ;)

I'm not sure we should just 'wish people luck' though. I know you mean it in the most positive way, Cbain, and I think we ALL do wish everyone has nothing but happy, healthy kittens in their arms (or cats if they bring in adults), but I also think with knowledge comes power. An educated buyer is a fierce thing and send them to me ANYDAY over an uneducated buyer. Or send me one with the willingness to learn and we'll fix their uneducatedness (hahaha- I'm making up words now!). But anyways, knowledge is power particularly when it comes to purchasing an item whether it is a cat or a car. This is about the only way I'd compare a purchase of a pet to another major purchase, but in this case, I think it's warranted. The more you know about, the more you know to ask, the more you can make a smart choice for yourself and your future kitten.

I'm all about awareness here.

This is very troubling. I sent them an email early this morning and have not yet heard back. I'll give them a call tomorrow if I still haven't been contacted back. I'll try to determine my options. I may be soon looking for a kitten from elsewhere

Thank you all for everything. I'd rather hear the bad news now than later

Paige, could you pm me. I have a few questions I'd like to ask if that's ok

I think it sucks that the a1 stories only come out after it's way too late to do anything about the incidents. My story included.
Part of the issue is that you can talk about facts but not about hearsay too easily. It's distasteful to diss other breeders when you are a breeder yourself so we try to avoid it.

I'm a buyer and owner of 2 (soon to be 3) Savannah's. I don't want to propagate hearsay, but I can tell my side of the story for what it's worth, and to a lot of potential buyers, that's worth a lot.

I agree when it is first hand experience you have every right to post, but @Brigitte is right - it is unprofessional to propagate hearsay, it only cultivates the rumor mill. Many of the stories I have heard over the years (about many breeders) probably have some truth to them, but they also only tell one side of the story and that's why I personally hesitate to arbitrarily pass them on.
