So if I don't have hearts yet what can I do to supplement until I find a
source? If I am forced to order something in the mean time it'll be a week before it comes in. And he won't get worms because of the fresh chicken will he? Momma instincts are kicking in. It's a somewhat new and scary leap for me

The hearts are a source of taurine , other than that they're considered another muscle meat, if the supplement that you're adding to the meat doesn't contain adequate taurine you could simply add some. Taurine is available at any health food store ( 1200-1500 units per pound of chicken thighs ) I use 4000 units ( 4 capsules) per 3 pounds of chicken. Up here in Ontario we can get chicken hearts and livers from the local supermarket.

Because my boy is going to start with slab meat diet I saw on the wild trax supplement packaging to add calcium I hear I can use eggshell to supplement in calcium. Should I just crush it up or does it need to be a fine powder does anyone know? And would one egg per meal be enough? I'll be cooking the whites and mixing the yolk in

Can I use a human calcium supplement and measure down the dosage to proper amount?

Here's something interesting one egg yolk has 22mg of calcium and 66.3mg of phosphorous. That's 1/6 of what it should be for a cat or dog. Sadly the calcium supplements I have are calcium only. I ran to Walmart and picked em up before seeing this. I made sure that there were no other vitamins like vitamin d etc added. But sadly that means no phosphorous. On a good note I think I can use it to balance things out untill I have a good collection of eggs to powderize. I did the math. If I give one egg then add 1/4 of a 600mg calcium supplement. Combined with the calcium being a tad on the low side in the wild trax it should even the ratio out. 132mg of calcium in a meal isn't too much is it? Combined with what's in the wild trax? It doesn't give a mg amount. Also I bought krill oil not sure how much to give. And thank you for your help!!!!'

The article I referred to says that a cat requires 128mg calcium, so I think your spot on with what you're planning on doing. I believe there is phosphorus in Wild Trax, although not sure it is enough to meet a cat's daily requirement.

It says calcium min 3% phosphorous min 1.9% that's all I can see. But the amount of calcium and phosphorous in the wildtrax was not taken into account in that number. Perhaps I should measure out calcium and mix with egg yolk and do half a yolk at a time? I only give the supplement one meal a day right? I mixed ground turkey in with the chicken thighs I ground up for him the ninja worked quite well for that. Tonight I did only half the recommended amount of vitamin because he already had kibble earlier today. I mixed in an egg and called it a day. Tomorrow I'm going to play it more by the theoretical book. I also have pumpkin sitting out on the side for "dessert" he chowed down on a quarter of what I had and left the rest. How big of a serving should I give? I sat out about a cup and a half. Should I just leave it out overnight? He eats a lot at night time while I sleep. He's been known to down an entire bowl nightly and graze during the day. Perhaps it's because I am sleeping and he's bored? Lol. And the wildtrax, I don't think it is everything else seems good but the calcium and phosphorous do seem low but that could also be because it's meant for a bone in raw diet. Once I get a grinder that'll save me a lot of the guess work. On a good note I have 10lbs of chicken and turkey combo all ground and mixed. I left some in the fridge for a couple days worth and the rest is in the freezer. I'm going to see how the poultry goes first if everything agrees with him this week I'll move on to pork and beef. And alternate the flavors for him. His stomach settled down this past week so no more loose stools at all even without pumpkin and Metamucil. Still has some nasty gas but well see if this helps him out. I am on the market for a probiotic for him. I bought some acidophilus at Walmart earlier too because my boyfriend and I could also benefit from it. I am debating putting some of that in his food until I can buy the cat enzymes. I saw how limited fortiflora was so I don't think I want I go with them. I am quite intrigued by totalbiotics. They do a pair between the total biotics and total zymes. not sure if he really needs both. But they do have a pair for 25$ online in a smaller size to try. I can also just get the totalbiotics for about 18$ for a 80day supply

And don't sweat it too badly - you did say that you were going to make a 2 week supply. Even if you are a little low on phosphorous or whatever, it will be OK for that short a period of time.
