itchy ears and faces

With everything she's been through, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an immune system issue or even a stress response (keeping in mind my total lack of veterinary training
).
This can be a problem for breeds with curled ears such as the Highlanders. I use an ear wash called Epi-Otic - you squirt it into the ear and they will shake it out again, and hopefully some of the debris will come out with it. It sometimes takes several applications (and sometimes you have to do each ear at a separate time depending on how much the cat will let you do to it at one time) but eventually the solution will work itself down to even the deepest buried debris and help work it out.

I will go ahead and order some Epi-Otic and give it a try next time she starts looking like Yoda. She seems pretty good today so I don't want to rock the boat. If this is stress induced, my being away for a week may have been the culprit.
Jammu went to the vet today. I was very glad that we had made an appointment as his bumps were much worse today. I really don't see him scratching at them but he obviously did last night. My regular vet is on vacation so we saw a visiting vet who works at the Burbank Animal Shelter that is, oddly enough, run by the Burbank police. She gave us a 3-1/2 week old foster kitten to hold while we waited. Loved that! Jammu had blood work done to re-test his liver enzymes and for food allergies (don't remember what is elevated for that) and a topical cream to apply. Jammu was so happy to be out of the carrier that he just hugged her and purred up a storm. She carried him to the other room instead of sticking him back into the carrier. She did not seem to want to give him back to us! We should get the results back tomorrow.

Update: Rafiki is doing very well today. No scratching and no yoda-ears.
Jammu has been given Animax ointment for the itchy, icky spots on his face. He does not mind my applying it at all and he has not scratched at them since. Both appear to be healing. Jammu's blood work shows improved but still elevated liver values. ALT went from 252 to 191 and AST went from 99 to 74. We will delay his teeth cleaning for another 2 months. Because he is such a pain to pill, they gave me "Liquid Hepato". It is chicken flavored and can be added to food. Last night he ate all his food but with much less enthusiasm than normal. This morning he only ate half his meal. The problem may be that Jammu has only eaten raw chicken and this tastes like chicken gravy (yes, I did taste it). Rafiki nicely pitched in and ate the 2nd half of his breakfast. A couple of hours later, I gave him the Denamarin by cutting a pocket in a piece of chicken. I swear that there was more pill than chicken but he gobbled it down no problem. I may be switching my routine to pilling Jammu in the morning and adding the Hepato to Rafiki's food.

Today Jammu refused to eat the chunks with the pill in it so it was back to the old fashion method of shove it down his throat with a pill shooter. His appetite for breakfast was not good either. He is starting to make me worry. The spots on his face are looking dramatically improved though.
Rafiki has not had any issues with her ears for several days now. I guess they are taking turns tormenting me.
