Yup - we can never buy too much cat stuff!

Ummmm. Not sure about that. I have little stuffed mices EVERYWHERE. Kilifi hides them then asks for more then brings the old ones out and hides the new ones then makes a mess then eats my feet B/C I won't throw them all at once... Sigh.

Rafiki has over 20 foam balls located somewhere in this house......I apparently need to purchase more. Sigh.

She knows exactly where they all are. She is just wanting you to spend more $$ on her. ( SO you think in your mind, I could never get rid of her..I have too much invested in her...) She is gaining leverage.... LOL

Well, she does enjoy inventing new games to play with her servants. I believe that one of her favorites is make the human crawl on his hands and knees looking under furniture for foam balls.

Over night update,,,,,,,,Jax was a little bit difficult. Still very timid. Just wanted to hide under the bed. Finally coraled him and he spent the night in the big crate. Never heard so many strange noises. Went from meows to barks to chirps to i don't know how to describe! Didn't want anything to do with us. Not wanting to play with teaser toy nor eat. Had me a little worried. This morning was a lot the same. He did however vanquish a can of wet food. I gave him about an hour to himself,,,went back in and whala,,,,,,he wanted to play! Finally broke the ice!Now we need to change his living quarters so he can roam more without being able to get under anything. That's all for now,,,,,heading to the pet store. Lol!

Don't be too worried, he is acting like a normal kitten who has just been ripped away from everything and everyone familiar - not surprising that he is a bit sad and scared. It won't take long, just don't pressure him and let him adjust to you and his new home in his own time. Also, it would be good for him to have at least one hidey hole available to retreat to when he becomes too overwhelmed. Forcing him out in the open will only frighten him more - if he retreats, let him have his space for awhile... he is already coming around so I don't think it will take much for him to adjust and start to bond with you...

Kitoko had a few hidey holes which she used when she was feeling threatened or stressed. I think they helped her to explore in her own time and allowed her a safe retreat when things overwhelmed her. She soon stopped using all of them as she became more confident. So definitely don't worry if baby Jax needs a place to hide. Kitoko was a very stressed and anxious girl when she came home and Jax sounds already way ahead of her - I didn't see much of her for the first four days! You'll be fine. Hope you had fun shopping

So happy for you guys Ambro. Jax is gonna be at you feet before very long. He is just suffering from "relocation syndrome." He now knows he can count on you for food, and I'm sure he knows you're good for a load of toys too. Soon, my friend, SOON!

We had very different experiences with our 2 kittens. Jammu (pixiebob) wanted to be held from the moment we got him. He hated being in a carrier and the only way that I could keep him calm in the plane was to have my hand on him for the entire flight. I wound up with him on my lap (hubby drove) for the trip home from the airport. Once we were home, he immediately ate and did his business. Every time we would enter the bedroom, he would come flying out, purring and kneading bread like crazy.

2 months later, we got Rafiki (F3 SV). She screamed bloody murder the entire drive home - thankfully it was only an hour. When I tried to comfort her, she chomped down on my finger and nicely pierced it. When we got home, she immediately hid. She didn't eat for almost 2 days and didn't poop until day 6. (poor Mike had an insane # of IM's from me on this subject!). The feather wand toy was what tempted her out into the open. By day 3, she was bounding out when we entered the room and that was the day she taught us to play fetch. By the end of the first week, she no longer hid at all.

Both became very cuddly with both their servants within the quarantine time but they were definitely very different bonding experiences. I don't know how much the difference in breeds had to do with it versus just simply different little kitten personalities.

I think it is more kitty personalities than breed - I have had Savannah kitties bound out of the carrier, and others hide for a couple of days as yours did. Even within the same litter I can have very friendly and outgoing kittens along with a shy one or two...
