Is this Jax's intro to the rest of the house too? If so, I'd back up a step and put the other cat in Jax's room and let Jax roam the house for a few hours. Then put Jax back in his room and continue letting him out for a few hours a day the next day or 2 or 3 and then do the cage thing.

Hiding under the couch isn't accomplishing much, poor little guy. Try coaxing him out with a wand toy or a snack. Put your calico in another room for awhile so he doesn't have so many stressors to deal with. Is he close to his quarantine room so that he can run back there if he feels the need to?

The cage is out,,,,,he bounces off the walls! So violently that I'm afraid he'll hurt himself. He's behind the couch right behind me right now. He's calmed down a lot. Taking a bath,,,,,,,ears up. Zoey isn't bothering him at all. We're just going to kick back and Let him relax a while. Hopefully we can coax him out before bed and we'll put him back for the night.

He won't come out right now but he has calmed down some as i just had a look and he's asleep. I think he'll be OK once he gets used to all the different sounds.

I recently found out that my hubby had been sneaking Jammu into Rafiki's quarantine room for several days before the grand introduction. He would carry Jammu in his arms and let them see/smell each other without making actual contact. Bad hubby! But....I have to admit that it may have made the introductions easier as they were happily rolling around and wrestling literally within 2 minutes of us opening the door at the end of quarantine. Ok....that is not quite accurate.....the end of quarantine was a day early because Jammu darted in so eagerly and we kinda gave up trying to keep them apart at that point.

I would say that if there have not been any signs of aggression from either cat, things should progress nicely. It sounds like the bigger hurdle is the big scary house and not the big scary cat. Please keep us posted!

Okay,,,,,,,,Jax a little while ago,,,,,,,must have decided that life behind and under the couch wasn't much fun. He came on out and walked right up to zoey and sat down. Soooo cute! He got hissed at and backed off a couple feet. She doesn't go after him and i really think she wants to play but just won't give in! Also the big Maine coon(Bink) came out of the spare room this morning and came to the conclusion that something that been going on that he wasn't informed of! LOL! He strolled right back behind the couch and straight up to Jax.! Priceless!!!!!! He weights 22 pounds and is as laid back as any cat I've seen. Jax was hissing and Bink just kept walking right up to him. The look on Jax's face was funny as hell! Bink said okay another cat in the house and lumbered back to bed.
