It does have fish and poultry liver in it so to me it does have a slightly fishy smell as well. Not too bad though. The cats seem to like it.

Same stuff. it's all lysine and added vitamins. Mine just came in the mail. Time to juice up the Jambi.

Thanks for pointing out that it contains poultry liver! I will have to make sure that I do not give any to Jammu!

Not a fan of liver? Jambi likes the smelly, cats tend to like smelly, weird but I taste everything I give to my furbabies, it has the lysine taste, if you ever buy just powdered lysine the friction makes it jump all over the place, also has that popping feel when you eat it.

Jammu became allergic to chicken in May. Eliminating chicken has been a challenge. He was eating primarily raw chicken and we switched him to quail and beef and rabbit but he reacted again. It turns out that the Mazuri supplements contain chicken for flavor so we had to find new supplements (kitty bloom for now but will eventually make my own mix). Last month the vet wanted to give him meds and....guess what......chicken in that too! There are so many cat products out there that contain chicken! I am very happy that I do make my own raw as many of the canned foods such as "venison" has added chicken! And the dang writing is so small....OK, maybe I am just old.

Wow that is intense. the challenge then continues. maybe push the fish into his diet. so strange how did you find out about his allergy?
In that case if you want to add lysine to the diet. try the powdered or capsules you can break apart for him. same lysine humans consume is the same thing in the pet blends.
No. Too much fish will lead to all sorts of health issues for cat. I'm frustrated by the amount of fish/fish by-products that are in commercial cat food. In addition to heavy metal toxicity, too much fish leads to vitamin K deficiency. As a treat once a month or so, it's not bad. But everyday or as a large part of a cat's diet it is very bad.

I keep hearing this about fish as well. Both my husband and I have roots in Hawaii so we basically were raised on fish, both believers in the benefits of fish intake. My cat Cudi would only ate fish, dry or wet. I supplemented a good nutritious dry food (also fishy) and she loved the fancy feast broths which were fish and juice. She is also from Hawaii so I guess it makes sense. When we lived in Hawaii I was on a budget and went out fishing early in the morning and late at night and Cudi and I ate the catch of the day lol
Jambi seems to enjoy the fish, but seeing how he is a hunter I'd prefer to see other meat options

Jammu developed itchy bumps around his face. The vet suspected allergies and gave us an ointment for the bumps. We had recently added beef to his diet so we removed that first. A month later, the bumps were back. He would scratch them and they would lose hair and bleed making them look like ringworm. We brought him back and tested for ringworm, mites, etc. while switching him to 100% beef. A few weeks later, he gobbled down about a teaspoon of Rafiki's chicken and the reaction was severe and immediate. We knew then that he was allergic to chicken. The severity increases over time and we have now discovered that he is allergic to egg yolks and the small amount added to meds for flavoring. We don't know if he is allergic to egg shells as well and have supplemented with non-eggshell-based supplements for beef (for rabbit and quail we grind the bone).
I agree with WW that fish should only be used as a treat and not a primary food source, particularly fish that are high up on the food chain like tuna. Our domestic cats are descendent of desert animals whose primary food was birds, reptiles, small mammals and insects.
