Savannah Super Cat
So the tests have not come back yet, but it turns out the vet gave her the FIP and FELV vaccine with her twelve week shots. He was the only vet in the area with experience with Savannah cats, and we warned him about some of the shots, but he still gave her the one. So this is probably a reaction to that. It was on Friday, so just about a full week ago, and her symptoms are much the same. Bloated and lethargic, but still eating/drinking regularly. She still pees and she did poop a little last night. Her eyes are bright and she is alert, she just doesn't want to move or play and it seems like her belly is giving her discomfort.
Has anyone experienced this before? She doesn't seem to be getting better or worse, so she is fighting the reaction. What can we do to help her? There has to be something. I know other savannahs have been given the shot and survived. I'm doing research into those cases now. Would a cold bath or maybe a heating pad help? A lot of bacteria/viruses are sensitive to temperature change. Are there anti-viral medicines for cats that might help? I feel like the vet really is not doing much at this point besides waiting to see what happens.
