Update: kitty is still passing clay litter in her last BM which was yesterday evening. (Friday) I talked to kitty's vet and they said as long as she is eating and drinking and not vomiting no need to worry. But it's been over 24 hours and no BM today .........even though she is SOMEWHAT ACTING NORMAL I'm wondering how long a kitty can go without having a BM. Another factor that may play into this is since kitty was eating the litter I had to change it. Tried yesterday's news, kitty seemed to not like the feel but did use the box. I also set up another box with sand and are letting kitty make the final decision. Today she has urinated in the sand 3 times but no BM. When should I start to,worry about her not having a BM for over 24 hours? she has been eating a lot!

Ok 36 hours and kitty no BM
She is eating like a trooper( how much go in and zero coming out?
Could it be the residual litter she had eaten that is binding her?
Previous pattern once a day like clock work
WHEN DO I PANIC. Because I've already been a nervous wreck.
The two litters are side by side. She has gone pee numerous times in the sand.
Help?

Finally a BM 37 hours between movement! Yikes! Last Wednesday was when I discovered all this by way of her BM, now 4 days later she still is passing litter in stool. 25% real stool the rest believe it or not all litter. How can that be? Does it attach to stomach and intestine lining? HOWEVER, the good news is it's passing. I'm giving her water by way of syringe and we will need to bump that up today. No dry food. And the litter box with the yesterday's news litter is not the winner so it is the garage and the sand won hands down! The black plastic boxes that are used to mix cement is her litter box. Kitty was always turning and turning to try and have enough room to navigate a pose. Well now SISTER you have plenty of room! We're heading in the correct direction!

I was tired of going back and seeing odd typos in my posts. Lol. I usually attempt to be succinct and insurance (see! That should be understandable!)

Dirt / sand may not alleviate odor well, but if you are a super scooper it may be ok! For horses, you are supposed to wet the pellets down to reduce dust and get it to breakdown into the pine dust, which is softer and absorbs pee. You are only supposed to scoop the poop and mix the urine up. I just couldn't do that, it violated the well imprinted laws of stall cleaning from my days of training with a German dressage instructor. So I ended up spending so much money adding more and more pellets that any of the supposed less work went right out the window! Not sure if the same concept is supposed to apply to the cat litter.

Excatly what my problem was, had to scoop so much unused! Going to give the sand a go! I am a super super scooper. I take out wet sand then partially tilt the pan to move sand to other side then take a sanitation wipe and wipe down where the wet spot was. Done that from day one with all litters we've gone through. Some times kitty gets annoyed when she is depositing a BM because I'm ready to pick it up and I guess I give her the impression I'm not going to allow her to complete, her task. Guess I'm too, close, and personal. Thanks for your input. I'm going to try and use the sand around the yard

It may very well be hung up inside her intentines, which could be why she is a little irregular. As long as you are still seeing litter in her poop don't be too worried about her not having a daily BM. I definitely agree that increasing fluid intake can help to flush her out.

Thanks, yes I am bird dogging her making sure I don't miss any opportunity to add afew drops of water anywhere I can. A few drops don't seem like much but at the end of the day it will all add up. Ok won't worry if she doesn't have a daily BM. Switched her to sand she seems to like it. No problems with the switch. Will keep u posted.
