Leash/Walking Jacket Training??

Our graceful little Eddie:rolleyes: loses all coordination while in his :not worth it: Safety Katz Walking Jacket...when he see's either the wand or (;)) beef/chicken/fish treat...& turns into a :ninja:...:in love:. We are now wearing our "wind breaker" daily for 2 half hour supervised play times...We have not been outside yet as I wanted him to get over the clumsy actbarefoot....Eddie is in a xs jacket...and he has a small waiting on another growth spurt...

I worked with Elsa inside for a few weeks, Started off for just 2 or 3 minutes then on up to about 20 minutes... I did not use food or treat as a training tool, but I did use her teaser wands and they did well. I wanted to get her proficient with it before going out... She still falls down once in a while. It seems if she keeps her interest up on something other than the jacket she does much better... I really think that Elsa does better outside on a Leash and Jack than working inside. I also worked with her on the leash letting her get around unrestricted just getting used to the leash being there, and then I started holding her back just a little at a time. When she went out side for the first time, she actually did better than she ever did inside. Guess she had more things peaking her interest.

I don't know how old "Little Eddie" is, but keying on the word little, before taking him out would recommend having all his shots up to date, but that probably goes without saying.

Eddies

Eddies a ham!
Eddie is a xmas baby & UTD on all shots, he is half the size of Mojo - weighing in at 17 pounds last week, 2/3rds the size of Tigger - 12 pounds...so Eddie is 6.8 pounds of long, tall, & furry fun. Trooper came in & became the temporary fuzzy "runt"...lol. By size I mean actually standing next to...not weight.

Sounds about the same as Elsa... She was a PreChristmas Baby, born on Dec 2nd.

Thanks for the replies, he is actually rockign the leash now. He comes to pressure and calling to him to change course. We just got bck from a road trip which was a really big deal for him and he got to be on a leash in lots of new foreign places and did perfectly. He settles now if he gets scared- I hold him and reassure him and he calms right back down. I think maturity and bonding really helped. YAY! And now I am setting to build an outdoor enclosure also but thats a few months off.
