Litter Box Issue

Paul B

Sorte
Well, I went out after work yesterday to pick up supplies. I bought 2 shower curtains to cover the bed in Sorte's room, a large Sterilite box, some odor spray (and a few toys and catnip to try out for him). As soon as I got home, I sprayed the bed down and covered the bed with the shower curtains, no accidents while we were at work. Then I turned the $8 Sterilite box into a pellet litter box by drilling a bunch of holes in the bottom and using the lid as the "catch" for the dust that falls through. Sorte was quite unsure of the drill for the first 10 minutes or so, slowly slinking around wondering what I was doing. By the end he was rubbing up against me as I drilled the last few holes :) Anyway, I woke up this morning to find that the bed was still intact with shower curtains and he had used his new litter box! :) I was very happy to see that my half hour of drilling holes was put to good use so far, LOL! Hope he keeps it up. Thanks for the tips everyone!

Sounds great, Paul!!! Good work! I have a feeling the one litterbox may have been too small for Sorte. Also, having a second litterbox is still a good idea IMO.

Yeah, I think the size was the issue as far as I can tell. He did his business in there last night so I cleaned it up this morning. Before I left for work, I put him back in his room and he has gone pee in there too already, the other box has not been touched yet.

Great news! I'm glad this seems to be working for him...and you :)
