Litter Boxes

I use the stove pellets from OSH (hardware store) and jumbo sized litterboxes or Sterilite boxes. For the kittens I often give them both the pellets in a tiny box and a choice of Nature's Miracle litter in the tiny boxes too... figuring the pellets might be hard on tiny paws. But they always seem to want to follow mama cat into the high sided big kids litterbox pretty soon...

I also have a big cabinet designed to hold a litterbox, it has a hole cut in the side and two doors on the front. It always surprises guests to learn it has a litter box inside it. I ordered the extra huge one so they wouldn't feel cramped in it. But most of mine are open as the cats do prefer them that way... and I'd rather they use them! LOL!

We use the jumbo litter pans without tops. Get them at Tractor Supply for 7.00. Previously we used RubberMaid containers too, but the grooves in the bottom collect urine soaked litter and are difficult to scoop.

I am so happy I found a tractor Supply 30 minutes away. I am going to go check out everything from litter to the litter biomes, although, I like the try tall sterilite boxes...

I use the large Sterilite for litter box and Clumping. My cats will not use the other litters tried!

Lori, can you give the dims (or link) of your box please? I don't like the RubberMaid box for the same reasons you state above. However, every litter box I've seen (other than the KatKave or top opening ones) are too low in height. I need it to be at least 14-1/4" high because Dash has the elevator butt some times when he pees. The one I got from e-bay is too expensive and heavy, otherwise a perfect litter box. It's HUGE!

I want to replace my RubberMaid one with something different but don't want to spend this much money for another KatKave.

I do not have any urine soaked litter in mine...I use about 3-4" of litter...are abut 20" tall and 32" in length...I like the katkave, but too expensive...

OOPS, yes, I did see this one! I'd really prefer one that has smooth sides and bottom without ridges though.
I'll wait and see what Lori has. When I did a google search from Tractor Supply, I didn't see any that had really high sides on them. Thanks anyway Paige. You are always so helpful.

No problem, Arline...I am going to the tractor supply store tomorrow...I don't see any with high sides though...you may just have to tolerate the smooth sides and a bit of a ridge on the bottom. It has nor been an issue for me at all...
