Litter quitter first day home.

Also, wanted to straight away intro them to the litter quitter instead of a box in their new home, one less step, from box, and another box, to the litter quitter. Just box from breeder to litter quitter. Same concept for them, just different shape and place. I just thought at their age, this is the best time for toilet training instead of later when they r older and used to the box.

Good luck! let us know how everything turns out ;)

Totally plan on video taping her first time home straight to the potty. Will post video. Gonna have to learn how to post video though. Also will be posting little Zumani's first potty visit.

You just upload your video to YouTube and then post a link ;) Look forward to seeing photos and videos.

I might wonder if it is a good idea to start "straight away" to something so new and different when bringing home a kitten. Seems to me that the kitten is already dealing with a lot of changes just by leaving its breeder, and if the litterbox set up is too different the kitten might be tempted to not use it.

Just hope that neither of your Savannahs turns out to be a water lover, else having an open toilet is just going to be messy! Years ago we got two Savannahs almost toilet-trained when we brought home a third that thought an open toilet bowl was a kitty wading pool... now we have toilet lids down.
The toilet won't be open. It has a tray full of litter setting on top of it. Just like a litter box on top of the toilet.

Thank you Paige. Thank you for the confidence. Wish me luck. Just hope my Savannah babies are as trainable as all my other babies were.

OK:) totally am aware of the water play. Read a post bout an owner whom had their Savanah potty trained, and all he wanted to do was make a mess with the toilet water after going potty:) oooooffffffff. I hope that's not the case with my "Little Angels:)"

I completely agree with Brigitte on this one, Kim. I think your best bet of integrating Zu and Malaika EASILY into your home is to first have everything like they have it here- normal litter boxes, food, etc. THEN you change over gradually to the new box, raw food.

Also- babies need to be quarantined for two weeks- is your toilet going to be a part of quarantine? Well, what happens when Zu comes home if Malaika has the potty to herself? You wouldn't want to interrupt her training.

Remember- a lot of new stuff will be happening to them at once when they go home. I have confidence that with patience and love, you can teach a Savannah most everything (except to leave food alone on the counter or stop tearing apart toilet paper...)- but babies are babies and they can only handle so much new input at once :D

Yes. The potty would be part of Malaikas quarantine, she will stay in our master bedroom until they are both off quarantine. When Zumani comes home, he will stay in our guest bedroom with a "litter box". Once his quarantine is over with, we were going to introduce him to the litter quitter. He and Malaika will be kept in our master bedroom while we are at work. The room is big enough for them to run and play together and I'm thinking he will be watching everything she does and follow her around at first and that includes following her to the potty and watching her. Full rein of the house for the both of them will be when we come home from work and we can play and supervise them. Then eventually, in time, give them full rein all the time.
As for the food, you can tell me what and how you've been feeding them and we will do the same. Also, once Zumani comes home and in the guest bedroom we were thinking about taking turns sleeping in Zu's room at night. image.jpg image.jpg

The step up is not real purdy but I made it out of cardboard. I'm thinkin about buying so leopard print fuzzy fabric to cover it, kinda like the stuff they put on cat trees.
