Litter Robot unboxing and review!

It is pretty loud, right now it is in the bathroom next door to my bedroom and I can hear it, not as loud as, say, a dishwasher but it makes a rather high pitched whine for about 30 seconds while the gears churn. My upstairs is rather small so this isn't an ideal place for it but the boys have the habit of going to the bathroom with me and so I placed it where they usually go. I plan to move it downstairs in the future (maybe next weekend) and can't imagine I will hear it upstairs once it is there. Today there seem to be fewer "false" triggers as there were when I first set it up with the boys playing with it, but I did notice today that the tray is getting full quickly.

I am guessing that my opinion will be solidified once it has either failed or otherwise needs to be taken apart for interior cleaning. I was rather shocked that it's got a big rubber liner inside of it (along with that rubber smell which thankfully is starting to fade). I don't know how often it needs to be cleaned, but I imagine it'll be more difficult than the Clevercat boxes, which every week I dump the clean stuff of one into the other and take the empty one outside with a nickel of bleach, let it sit with water for an hour, then hose it down and air dry outside. No worrying about what parts get wet, etc, which I imagine will be an issue, but we'll see.

@Dantes - how long is the cleaning cycle when it rotates? I just ordered one (I feel like I spend all day scooping and sweeping or vacuuming!) and am really hoping they use it!

I have two litter robots and love them! I have had them for over a year, but Cinny STILL has to investigate when it goes off...it is a bit noisy, but at night, you can turn it off and then turn it back on in the morning and clean the litter...

The only downside is cleaning it...it is difficult to clean...I do it once a month and curse the entire time...

It isn't as long as I thought it'd be. It's easily less than a minute. It spins one way, stops for a few seconds, then spins back.

The only problem I had was the first night when I thought for sure they were setting it off just to watch it go. Since then they only watch it go after they go hehe so I don't mind it so much. It's right next door to my bedroom and other than the first night or so I don't notice it anymore.

This is what I was afraid of. How long does it take? How involved is it? And how did you do it when it was snowing outside?

Other than that I'm quite happy with it. They still haven't used the manual boxes. Oh, I'm also concerned about the clumping litter which I learned on this forum is fatal to kittens (the manual boxes have Swheat in them). The clumping litterr gets caught in all of their paws, so I'm sure they're ingesting some, which is rather scary Not nearly as much dust as I would've thought, though, but I'm following your advice and using Dr. Elsey's so that might be the reason for so little dust.

I just had the opportunity to time it, it's 1 minute 20 seconds total, including rotating to dump, pause, rotate back.
