Here are my thoughts on Paws and Claws, now that I have used it...

Pros: Inexpensive, very little tracking, cats love it
Cons: VERY dusty, made of clay, which means inhaled silica dust

So while the cats love it and love to dig i it, etc., and it is very inexpensive, I am going to give Equine Pine a try...don't want my babies getting cancer from inhaled silica :(

So i talked to my breeder today and she uses Swheat Scoop Kitty Litter. I checked out their website (http://www.swheatscoop.com/) and it seems pretty awesome! It's made from wheat, it's very low in dust and tracking, and its flushable! I don't think i've seen it mentioned on this thread, and was wondering if anyone has tried it?

I'm going to go google some reviews, and see what others are saying. Ill check back in with results! ;)

OH! and they also have some sort of breeders reward program involving free litter...just sayin.. lol

I have tried it and didn't really like it because it does not keep odors to a minimum. But others like it...

Yes i just checked some reviews and it seemed to be mixed about controlling odor... i want to switch my kitten over to raw when he's settled in, and then his little presents shouldn't be to smelly anyway right? :poop: lol

My concern was more the urine odor, not the poop odor :poop: Mine are on whole prey or a mix of raw and canned so no real discernible poop smell - LOL!

Ohhhhhhh... I didn't even think about tinkle smells... Hmmm. Well i will have a bag to try it so he will have something he's used to, and then i will watch out for that odor issue and see if i need to make a switch!

My breeder used swheatscoop so i started with that and found that it was dusty and tracked alot. So i am now trying Purr and Simple and it doesnt seem too dusty and may track less. I dont notice much smell but i scoop daily with only one cat.

I don't like the sound of Zeus breathing in silica while taking care if buzyness :p, I guess it's back to feline pine for Zeus

SwheatScoop....I tried it too and thought it smelled as bad as the waste from my cats. LOL It did not control smell at all. Also it tracked very easily so got all over the place.

We have been using the Paws and Claws now for a couple weeks and I must say that I am happy with it.
Cats like it too. We were using PetCo bulk mixed with Fresh Step w/Charcoal.

Pros:
  1. Less tracking that other brands used.
  2. Controls odor really well.
  3. Clumps harder and holds together longer/better, resulting in less litter used.
  4. Doesn't have a perfumey smell so cats fur doesn't end up smelling.
  5. Less Expensive.
  6. Cats like it and took right to it.
  7. Tractor Supply is an awesome store. Also got a $2 long sleeved t-shirt there too. ;-)
  8. I have found my cats do not spend as much time digging in this as they did with the other stuff. And their digging is not as vigorous either.
Cons:
  1. Dusty and worry about silica dust being inhaled. Although not as dusty as our previous brands.
  2. The box is HEAVY. Forty pounds feels like 60 to me. LOL, what can I say, I'm getting to be a wimp in my older years.
  3. Tractor Supply is not that convenient for me. However, I enjoyed the drive out there.
Thanks Michelle for recommending this. We will use this till I find something we like even better. Awaiting Paige's review of the Equine Pine. LMAO!!!!
