Litterbox size?

What did you use to cut the hole in the side. I tried using a hot wire but the material just resealed itself. I wound up hacking away at it with a box cutter but it was not easy and the end result was definitely not pretty! I need something with tall sides as my Pixie Bob is super enthusiastic about burying his poopies, Rafiki's poopies and imaginary ones as well!

I made the plastic soft with a hair dryer and then cut a door using a really strong box cutter.

I opted for sides as well since Shango gets carried away sometimes when he's covering his poo. When I say I cut a hole in the side, I meant I had my dad come over and help me/pretty much do most of the work  I used permanent marker showing him where I wanted the hole and then he used a box cutter to cut the plastic. It did have some sharp/rough edges so he filed them down with a wood file/rasp and then found a piece of small hose and split it in half, then he lined the edges with the soft rubber hose and used 2 ty-wraps to secure them on. He poked holes for the ty-wraps using a sharp metal tipped item that he held over the oven burner to get super hot. The box cutter was sharp, but it looked very easy while he was doing it. I'm sure it would've been a lot more difficult with me doing it. I did once manage to almost cut off a finger while slicing an apple

those of you who have the big guys - F1s and F2. What do you use for a litterbox? Does the storage container work or have you had to move to something even bigger?
I have a couple of 106 quart storage boxes for my big cats, but the majority of the litter boxes here are the smaller (56-64 quart) boxes.

I have a VERY large and long F2 boy who likes to poop in the MIDDLE of whatever box he uses. And he's lazy and likes to step instead of jump in. (Even though his legs are long enough to just walk into the storage tubs as well.) So he prefers this box out of all the boxes we have. The Largest cement mixing tray Home Depot carries. http://m.homedepot.com/p/Plasgad-Black-Large-Concrete-Mixing-Tub-887102C/205451585
I find the largest cement trays are too big for me to easily empty into my garbage can (I have a 45 gallon garbage can that I line with outdoor trash bags specifically to dump my litter in) but the medium size works perfectly. I have to say, in the rooms that I have these in my cats seem to like them the best as well.

My boys care more about the location of their boxes than configuration. They don't mind jumping in, and I'm still using the 116quart Sterilite clear containers. I did have one that had a cut out and it just became an easier exit for litter, plus they were still jumping in.

Been using the Scoopfree box for years with my ragdoll and it's been working "ok-ish" with Loki.

He has to have this box pristine to use it regularly, very picky. He's an f1 and never touches the crystals when he goes number 2. He balances himself in the sides of the box to avoid touching the litter.

I've been looking into switching litter and boxes as he doesn't seem to like the crystals. I wouldn't recommend going with crystal litter, but am so sad to get of the Scoopfree box. It also could just be Loki's personal preference and not a Savannah dislike.

He seems to be too large for the box as well. He also refuses to ever attempt covering his poo. He is a stinky beast.

My Savannahs do the same balancing act in the rims of the litter box. I have been brainstorming on ways I can make the ledge a little wider and still kinda curved for comfort. Spoiled kitties!

I didn't think of using a cement mixing tray... it actually looks like some of the litter boxes you'd find at the store, but much bigger and probably cheaper as well. I might have to give one a try when it's time to replace the storage tub.
I used them but if your baby doesn't squat to pee ......a lot of cleaning up.
