Long lasting inner ear infection

Yeah, I tried it to no luck. I'll be researching more on vestibular and from what I've already read it is not pleasant. Thank you for searching for the link for me.

I think that if it were you having the issue, you'd likely have been referred to a specialist by now by your doctor... and if I were you, I'd be looking for one for your cat too. Our vets are general practitioners and even a good one has limits when it comes to the more rare conditions a cat can develop...

I probably need to try the link on my laptop or tablet for it to work. And Brigitte I believe you are absolutely right. Do you or anyone have any other possible suggestions from experience or readings? I have her on a raw diet since this began hoping to boost her immune system. Any potential home remedies for this specific symptom? I've ran out of ideas and researched from one end of the Internet to the other end from what it seems like. Time is all I have at the moment.

I think trying to learn more about what is wrong in regards to her ear issue is key. Then you might know if a change in antibiotics will help or not. With inner ear infections, there is a possibility that she would need to be on antibiotics for some time to see improvement... depending on the likely culprit some are very resistant to treatment. My friend Kristine (Gattobello SVs) had a kitten with a similar issue and it took months and still he ended up with a funny slight head tilt. He'd seem completely okay and then if he got nervous or excited the head would tilt, it was like it was a learned comfort position or something...

After 4 different antibiotics I would have liked to see her closer to 90-100% but I am realizing more and more that these inner ear infections can last a long duration and as I mentioned my wife calls me impatient when it comes to my putty tat's healing duration. She was miserable when it all 1 st came over her and she is really doing much better. I just want her to be better. Lol I put a lot of love, effort, time and money into taking good care of her but some things are outside of my control.

It may depend on which antibiotics were given and how long for each. Antibiotics can be general types or more specific depending on which one. Sometimes a pathogen requires a very specific antibiotic and so you can give all sorts of other ones with little to no effect.

Yeah I thought about that. The fact that none have been utilized for any prolonged period it's near impossible to determine which, if any, has been effective or most effective. I can't see having her on one for 2 month's, then switch to another for 2 month's, etc..... I just can tell from the cocktail mixture of meds has been slowly helping.

Has the vet tried culturing the ear to see if they can target the infection? As Brigitte pointed out, you can throw antibiotics at a cat indefinitely but if the infectious agent isn't sensitive to that particular antibiotic you'll never get very far.
