Ok LuLu is definitely pg. She has gotten huge.
So, now I believe nesting is setting in with her. I may need experienced help here. I am in the process of making her a box, and I'm going to put it in my closet because that's where she has been hanging out periodically. She goes in walks around, smells things etc.
As of today she has been following me around more than usual and giving me the most pleading of looks. Her tummy is very firm and I can feel kittens. I haven't been with a pregnant cat in years...
God I feel like Priest from "Gone with the Wind"..."I don't know nuthin 'bout birthin' no babies, Miss Scarlet!"
Any help, pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

oh sorry she is a stray that adopted my family as hers several weeks ago. I had posted about the possibility of her being pg....she is.
so I was just trying to make sure I have everything I need for when she goes into labour. to have my ducks or kittens in a row as it were.

Okay, make sure the room/closet is warm. Make sure you use bedding that the kittens can't get their nails snagged on or get buried under and suffocated. Have betadine or other disinfectant available, and a sharp scissors that you've sterilized with the betadine, along with dental floss. If mom doesn't take care of it, you will need to tie off the placentas with the dental floss then cut the cord and put disinfectant on the end of it.

I would also recommend having baby formula available (I use Just Born) and a bottle and feeding tube just in case. If you have a postage scale that comes in handy to weigh the kittens daily or twice daily to make sure they are growing adequately (if that are all healthy and roly-poly kittens this probably isn't necessary).

I would leave the birthing bedding in place at least for the first few days. If it is really soiled you can put clean bedding over it after mom is finished birthing and the kittens have settled in (maybe 24 hours later). I would also keep the closet door shut for the most part and discourage her from moving the kittens (if she seems prone to this) to another location.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head but I'm sure others will have lots of advice as well :)

Ummm nevermind she just went into labour. So far there are just two. She is bathing and one seems like he is really trying to nurse.
I know they aren't SVs but its still a wonder to behold and they are just as sweet.

How exciting! My fingers are crossed that all goes will with the delivery and raising of Lulu's kittens. I am looking forward to seeing pictures once mom and kittens have settled in well :big grin:

Thanks guys I appreciate all the help. She caught me off guard. I'm just happy I was home. She looks to be doing well with them. I have my toddlers hemmed up in their room while I take care of Li.
