Meat grinders.

Ah, ok...what I did was purchase some liquid vitamins for the whole prey eaters and give it to them via syringe - works for me...

That's what lead me to using the Mazuri supplements...I'd tried a few and some of my cats were adamant about not eating any meat with supplements. I think it was Sue Armstrong (Amara Savannahs) that suggested Mazuri and she was right. It made a huge difference in compliance...

Tasin makes a great home meat grinder. Several people here including myself have them. Works great on bones etc

A couple of comments in the review section commented that it is not stainless steel and made in China. A few reviews stated that what ever your grinding always get stuck behind the plate. Any comments?

The only real complaint I have heard about the Tasin is that the parts are not dishwasher safe. One thing to read it another thing to have ruined parts after the first trip through the dishwasher. Conversely, as a service item they have been good about getting parts out to people and seemingly at no charge.

I have the Westin #32 and it's an awesome grinder. However the thing weighs a ton and not a lot of fun to move around. Others that have it have said they just end up leaving it on the counter as they can't easily move it. As I need to replace mine as a result of my home damage, I will be getting the Weston #22 which I'm certain will be more than up to the task.

Don't be tricked by Wattage ratings of grinders when comparative shopping. Torque, meaning rotational force, is what makes them function and the number that best illustrates it is horsepower. The ever popular Tasin TS-108 has a 1200 watt motor but only produces a 1/2 horsepower. Meanwhile with a 1,047 watt motor the Weston #32 produces 1.5 horsepower.

A half horsepower grinder is what I would call entry level for grinding bones. Make sure you purchase on that is reversible to clear jams. Without reverse you will need to disassemble the grinder assembly to clear jams. Also, I can't think of much that could be more unsettling than having a grinder go down midway through making a batch of food.

Hope that helps.

Paige, didn't want to call you out on it but thanks for volunteering. That Weston #32 is a beast and even I dreaded moving it at 6'4" 225lbs. Glad I'll get to replace it with the Weston #22 and it will still be at twice the power of the Tasin T-108 with all Stainless Steel parts.

What else am I needing to provide for my furbaby that maybe am not aware of?
