Mikono Not Eating

What happened at that vet's? Was he able to determine what was wrong?
Hi everyone!
Kono went to the vet and they did bloodwork and xrays. She didn't see anything specific in the xray and his bloodwork came back fine. He did have a very slight fever though. She suspects that he may have gotten into something that he shouldnt have which is giving him an upset stomach. They gave him fluids and anti nausea medicine. About an hour after we got home, he was able to eat some food without throwing up. I was so happy!! I need to keep an eye for the next 24 hrs to see if he eats again. If he doesn't, or does and throws up again, then we'll bring him back in and they will probably do an ultrasound to get a better look.

I really hope its just an upset stomach. He has a tendency to chew on my houseplants; I'm thinking that he may have eaten something there. Its time to put those plants out of reach.

What do you guys think? She was a very good Dr and was very knowledgeable. I hope she is right

If he continues to do well, great! If not, an xray...when my kitten Orion, started vomiting for no reason, I brought him in and he had swallowed somehow a 4 inch piece of the end from a wand toy...he would be fine, eat and then vomit...

I feel your pain, Gina! My girl is going through a more severe version of Kono. She has been vomiting for a few months (off and on). Bloodwork, X-rays, urine samples, more blood work, ultrasound...all of it points to nada. For my case, I feel the ultrasound was a waste of time. It wasn't conclusive, and they want to cut her open anyways. It is also very expensive. Obviously you have to do what is best for Kono. I am hoping and praying the anti-nausea medication and fluids did the trick.

Oh no, Kristin! I'm so sorry you are going through that. Luckily, he ate this morning and didn't vomit. I truly think he just had an upset stomach.
Does your little girl seem normal other than the vomiting? You must have spent alot of money so far. Yikes! Praying for you and your precious girl.

Thanks, you can read about our "adventure" as it were, here http://www.savannahcatchat.com/threads/need-healing-thoughts.4098/page-27#post-73288

Her energy as gone up and down through it all. Luckily I work at a vet, so the cost hasn't been as bad as it could have. We are getting a second opinion on Friday though.

I'm glad to hear that Kono is doing better this morning. I will keep my fingers crossed that he continues to hold down his food and will not have to go back to the vet's!

Well, by now Kono's anti nausea meds should have worn off. This morning he ate TONS and so far, and has kept it down! One thing thing that is different is that he won't touch his raw chicken. I've noticed that even before he got sick, he was starting to turn his head to the raw. I'm thinking this might be my opportunity to make a change in his diet. It's so difficult to keep up with the sanitary chores of having raw chicken around all the time; especially with my 2 toddlers. Kono WILL eat cooked chicken. He loves it actually. I think I may start cooking his chicken while still adding the Mazuri.

So thanks to everyone who gave us healing thoughts! You guys are a great group of supporters

His little system may not be ok with Raw, Gina. If he eats cooked,,, cool but there are also some commercial canned that are good. Mine are fine with Royal Cainin.

I am so glad to hear Kono is doing much better. Not gonna stop the prayers though.. ;)
