On this topic...Jasmine was given a killed vaccine before I brought her home. I am assuming I need to make sure as gets killed from here on out...correct? And, if she had her first at 8 weeks, when do I get the next one?? (Sorry, I'm new to the kitten thing! lol)

You are going to get a variety of answers on this one and should really defer to your Breeder.

I personally, will not use anything but KILLED VIRUS vaccines on my cats and require their use in my sales agreement as well.

I instruct my clients whose vets do not stock KILLED to visit www.RevivalAnimal.com and purchase a single vaccine 1x annually. Most vets DO use KILLED RABIES, so this does not present the same issue.

We use Fel-O-Vax IV w/Clymadia and Calici

Hope this helps.

All best,

Thanks so much! And, I am having "breeder issues", so I want to deal with her as little as possible. I am going to go to the same vet that she does (we are local to each other) so I am assuming he must have the killed. I will make sure when I call for the appt though. :)

Sorry you're having issues with your breeder, and hopefully things get worked out. Make sure you check your contract on this and if it's the same vet as your breeder uses I'm sure things will be inline. Again, let your contract be the first step in this and then run from there.

John is correct. Your contract should be your guide, first and foremost. If nothing is specified, then proceed based on your best judgement. Be VERY mindful of your contract, ESPECIALLY if you are having issues with your Breeder!

Best of luck getting it all sorted.

..contact the vaccine companies and they have studies that support this stuff not anecdotal data...
I've been staying out of this discussion, mostly because I felt there was a lack of substantiation. The above statement says it all. Look for the studies. In the business we call this "evidence based."

I have only ever used MLV, and have never had a reaction. However, I breed f4-f7, so it may be that the early gens are just more sensitive?
